I remember back in vanilla wow the quest chain to get the epic Paladin mount. Hard and time consuming, but do-able. In fact most of it was solo content except for the very last part, a dungeon run with a specific boss at the end. It was awesome and so rewarding. The exotic bounties with the mix of pvp and pve just seem odd. I've got two of them so far from bounties and another from a purple engram.

I got the Skull of Dire Ahamkara from this past weeks nightfall on level 28. And I recently got the Universal Remote exotic shotgun after posting one of my most terrible stat lines in the Crucible ever. I struggle vs Snipers and that team was full of some badass snipers. My friends and I actually have a running joke where, whenever one of us is bottom three, we celebrate because it seems the worst always get rewarded haha.

I have a friend who's gotten Apotheosis Veil three separate times. He's currently wearing it and got it for the third time last night doing the Nightfall. I got it from my first Exotic Engram from Xur and dismantled it because I'm never going to use it over Sunbreakers.

It really is random. I've been doing bounties pretty much every day since the game released and I didn't get a single exotic bounty. But two days ago I got my first one and today I got my second one. It's crazy how I went from getting 0 EB's in 3 weeks to 2 EB's in 2 days.

InvalidName234 i didn't get mine until i had been 27 for a while... thing is i suck at pvp/crucible (i'm not good at multiplayer fps and dont play them). and looking up the exotic bounties, all of the 3 that i was allowed to choose from when i got my bounty, included crucible tasks that i deemed i'd never complete. so i rejected the bounty and am now waiting for another one. i think there's about 5 exotic bounties and at least a couple only include pve stuff, so i'm waiting for those. now i wish i'd taken a closer look at the crucible tasks and maybe taken one though. exotic's may be rarer than i think. as i said, i've been 27 for like, two weeks, and i dont even have an exotic yet, and not only that i only have 3 legendaries, and 2 of them kinda suck imo (my legendary fusion and legendary shotgun. Yeah people like the shotguns but that's only in PVP which I dont play. In PVE they suck)! my primary is still a blue!

I was playing Crucible with my best friend yesterday, and he finished at the bottom of the leaderboard and got Patience and Time. It's BS that someone who didn't really do anything for his team got an Exotic sniper that he won't even use because he doesn't snipe. Good suggestions for positive refinement to the system, at the end of the video. They need to be very difficult to get, but you should be able to begin the marathon of getting one if you feel up to it. The massive number of Exotics already in game though has probably unbalanced the economy from this point onwards irreparably. Also, Exotic covers too many types now with drops, quests and Vault - not all Exotics are equal. The only fix would be to introduce a higher tier of gear, above exotics, which could then be genuinely rare, and requiring a new stricter regime of many tasks and great skill to secure, as Datto suggested.

Yeah, been playing since day 1, first week I took off of work and made sure to do everything daily, came out of week 1 at 24, beat nightfall the first 2 weeks, and have beaten the vault of glass twice now, and so far....not a single exotic drop. 1 exotic owned, I purchased it this week. and I've only ever received 1 exotic bounty but decided I really didn't want to grind out thorn. So I have heard through the grapevine that while the hawkmoon and monte carlo are random drops, dust palace increases the likelihood by a vary small margin, but it is still a larger margin than anywhere else in the game. so if say it has a .005% chance of dropping along with every other exotic everywhere else in the dust palace I've heard it basically increases to say .009$ or something but again it's basically just a tiny bump in chances and of course now with the loot fixes I've heard that tiger strikes have a slightly higher chance than anywhere else as well. Nightfall being equal to tiger playlists.

Initially I 100% agreed with you. I thought exotics should be really hard to get but there should be a certain way to get them. You should be able to earn them. BUT... in my personal opinion and experience the fact that they're random drops accomplishes what Bungie wanted. Each player has their own story for how they got it. You were able to describe exactly how you got every one of your exotics including repeats. I will never forget that I got thunderlord from a legendary heavy weapon drop while patrolling Venus. And I'd be willing to bet just about everyone else who has exotics can remember how they got theirs too. A lot of people complain that Bungie kept saying that you build your own story and now there's nothing to show for that but this is it. isn't it more exciting to tell your friends how you randomly got it after completing your first nightfall strike or how you just found it while waiting for a public event than to say you just did the mission to get it? That's what makes them exotic. They're these hard to get weapons that not everyone has but everyone wants. And you get them just by doing what you love in destiny rather than killing 500 people (more or less) with certain weapons (looking at you thorn bounty) and then getting exactly what you expected. So yes, maybe if they were REALLY hard to get and you had to do all kinds of things to get them it wouldn't be so bad. You would earn your exotics rather than getting lucky. But maybe getting lucky is the way to go because no one finds a random exotic and thinks "I wish I could have done a specific challenge to get this."

The loot system for pvp is extremely broken and stupid though. I agree that you should get better stuff depending on how well you do but I don't think you should ever get an exotic from the crucible unless you were #1 for like 15 or 20 matches in a row. Anyone can win a match our a couple of matches so it shouldn't be that easy to get an exotic.

I've been playing destiny for only 2 and a half weeks, but have put in 98 hours on a lvl 31 warlock. I have 2 exotic weapons, patience and time, and vex mechanism. I got the sniper rifle from a legendary engram drop at winters run strike and managed to get the vex from atheon on vault of glass the very first time I ever run the raid at all happened to be on hard mode with my clan. I bought the void fang chest piece from xur over the weekend. Like he said in the video it is all random, and similar to playing lottery. Luck has a lot to do with it a long with chance, but to increase your odds just play the game as much as you can find the time to do so and that will make it more likely you will start getting the exotic gear you want. I am also working on the thorn bounty right now. It generated for me when I turned in 3 crucible bounties at once, again random. Do the weekly heroic, make 3 characters to farm extra strange coin from the weekly to visit xur, and just keep playing the game, and eventually you will get what you want. they should really add trading because I know a few great players who yet to have gotten a legendary, im sub par and had gotten three in a row, while doing a legendary bounty I got one in the crucible and when I finished said bounty I was rewarded with another bounty list with the same three bounties. I just think there should be more set bounties, makes farming bosses better and easier to personalize you character. I hate it when I get awesome hunter gear when im a titan.

I both hate and enjoy the randomness, it's awesome because I got my first exotic drop today (Plan C) ((I have 3 other exotics excluding drops though)) and when you finally get it it's so great! What's annoying is the fact that you can dominate any crucible match and not be guaranteed a legendary engram let alone a exotic, but some wanderer can pick themselves up a exotic for doing terrible. It just encourages you to play more and more until you pick that weapon you've been wanting since release day (I'm praying for you Hawkmoon!!)

I think the rewards system in Destiny is kinda bullshit. I often come high up in the scoreboard, or even first, and receive nothing, then some scrub with a 0.45 k/d and next to no points gets an exotic weapon and a legendary engram. It should be based on skill, not luck. This is coming from a Destiny fan who's been following the game since the initial leak. It needs to be fixed, I feel cheated when I do well in a game and get nothing, and makes the overall experience a bit sour. Needs consistency and predictability

crucible bounties works too. i think you at least have to be rank 1 and almost to rank 2 vanguard rep in order to increase chances of getting bounties.

Oh and for those that say the 'Bad Juju' sucks, the gun doesn't suck.. As long as you get one kill per magazine, you have unlimited ammo! And I know it shows low impact, but it still dishes out good damage! AND once it gets a buff it'll be amazing in the Crucible!

Im level 27 and have yet to get an exotic bounty or weapon. I was recently able to get the exotic titan helm by purchasing it, but other than that I have no exotics. I completed the nightfall strike for last week and just got 3 strange coin (are you kidding bungie!?) And a legendary chestplate. the best chance you have at getting an exotic weapon is night fall strikes. I've did it with both my characters and got my first primary weapon above rare last night and it just happen to be Hawkmoon. But datto is right even then you dont get that lucky most of the time.

You need to do more than 25 strikes in 3 days. Just double your amount of play time for another 3 weeks and you "Might" get some Exotics.

DelbertStinkfester well, 25 strikes i mentioned above was a bad juju exotic bounty mission.... i've to do strikes at devil lairs lv8 over and over again, makes me bored.. i hope if i get another exotic bounty, it won't make me to do "all the repeat things" again.

I think you have to do all 5 of the vanguard bounties for at least 3 days in order to get an exotic bounty..

I have The Last Word, Gjallarhorn, Thorn, Suros Regime, Hard Light, Monte Carlo, Hawkmoon, Red Death, Bad Ju Ju, Truth, Thunderlord, Patience and Time, Icebreaker, Invective, Vex Mythoclast, And Plan C. God I'm so lucky.

destiny does not have enough content for them to control how guns are earned. so much for having a good story on how you got your gear. most stories are "i got lucky." #destinyisafailure

I have played this game for sooooo long now and I haven't gotten a single exotic bounty or engram. Plus, I have only seen two legendary engrams, unlike most of my friends and youtubers who are already have their 8th exotic weapon.

I've gotten the same three choices for Exotic Bounties, 13 times. Always Bad Juju, Invective and Thorn, 13 times...
