I finally got mine tonight. Getting all those void kills was definitely the most time consuming part. Unfortunately, I had no skeleton keys and did a few strikes to get one. I'm not a big hand cannon user but the gun does look cool.

Nuh-uh. Void is the primary elemental power the hive thrive upon. And the thorn is in-fact, a hive-made weapon. And you need to use motes of light in order to cleanse yourself from the thorns corrupting abilities.

As far as I know the void kill in crucible is tied to the lore of the gun it self, void being an element of darkness in the destiny lore it translate to the gun feeding on the light of the guardians you kill via void weapon and void subclass kills which you can't do in PVE but only on PVP, It may be in the grimoire I'm not sure but every exotic gun bounties in year one such as "pocket infinity", "bad juju" and "super good advice". All of their steps tells some sort of story on why the hell your doing ridiculous amount of grinding lol.

Ahh, the good old void kills. A blue shotgun called the "I PROTEST" carried me through this quest, I still have it in my vault. I may bust it out for this quest, even though it's not nearly as good as it was in Year 1

Thorn sucks now cause bungo nerfed it saying "we don't want another year 1 thorn meta" making the gun almost useless plus the ghost bullets on handcannons. It's a shame to see exotics just thrown into the vault and collect dust. More and more will do aswell because bungie nerfs shit statistically wise
