So to sum up the "Netease licensing" thing. A license is a contract from a brand to what is normally one person (for this example, lets use a fast food place) and then THAT person decides what to do with that brands image. It is 100% on NetEase on what happens with the game and I would be very supprised if anyone from bungie is involved at any level. If the game is truly licensed like they stated it was, then it is NetEase's call on every single thing that goes into and out of that game.

Meaning it isn't an obligation under the license for Bungie to give them any creative or narrative oversight. The developers have said they're big fans of the Destiny universe themselves so they know what to work off of even without oversight.

I’m annoyed this mobile game is a thing. I’m not wishing it to not exist, but I hate that THIS MOBILE GAME is getting everything the community has been asking for in their MAIN GAME. Like Bungie says “we’ve been listening to the community, so this new Episode, we’re giving you Onslaught 2.0!!” While the mobile game has 3rd person, new gear as in MYTHICS, new supers, ACTUAL INOVATION, like all this I want in D2 man.

What would be so much better is a dark, gritty survival looter shooter. Go on a journey to defeat the fallen or warlords to begin the last city. Try and fail to protect a raided village. Gain and lose friends. I would pay a lot to play as Zavala in those early days, or as one of the first light bearers with the plot I just gave. Become a warlord or kill the other warlords to save humanity, either way become legend.

As someone who likes mobile games I am excited for this. It could potentially bring new players to the main game. Hopefully net ease doesn't let bungie turn this into microtransaction hell. By the way the people speaking 2 different languages at the same time on that dev insight is a new youtube feature. When you are listening to a video with foreign language ai voiceover dub is plastered over. I guess americans couldn't figure it out considering original ip belongs to an american studio and it wouldn't be weird of them to try and reach that audience with dubs, plus english is everywhere, but when I opened a video and there was a random turkish dub going on I knew something was up lol. You can turn it on/off like captions. Edit: I just realized it wasn't enabled on that video lol. I guess it's limited to some extent since it feels like an experimental feature. You can still find it on different videos as "audio track" setting though. Saw it on some cooking videos first time.

At most, the licensing would require a brand consultant to ensure that the Destiny IP is not going to be marred by an outside source. In terms of actual game dev, none of Bungie's staff is actually working on the game itself, but the narrative team wants to make sure that this team doesn't explore ideas that will be brought up in Destiny 2 going forward. The main example being, this game is mostly going to be on Earth, with a lot of the tales they are telling being from old lore cards of historical events in the original canon. They aren't going to mention things like the new race of people in the Frontiers expansions or any of the knowledge we currently have in our saga pretty much.

idk why ppl were saying they started doing this in 2019, A quick googling & I got from destinypedia Work on Rising had begun by 2022 at the latest. But bungie fandom says As far back as 2021, Bungie had plans for a Destiny mobile game. If they are still kinda in early-ish development those dates make more sense. Mobiles games are at the point where you can play games like Death Stranding and Resident Evil 4 remake pretty well. For Online games, i think Warframe is at the top in terms of just being a 1 to 1 port of the pc version. However, I think Destiny Rising is much more comparable to Diablo Immortal since they're both their own games separate from the main franchises.

When Destiny launched on consoles i think alot of its success stemmed from the fact that there wasnt really anything else like it at the time. DR at launch is going to have to compete with already well established and similar mobile games like Genshin while also having the mixed reputation of being a Destiny IP. while i would love to see this succeed im not too sure that it would.
