"FInal Solution" is translated from the German term for it and in german its very clear that its not the "last resort"- solution, but the concluding solution. In mathematics the "Endlösung" would be the final result you would arrive at, completing a problem. You dont go to the "Endlösung" because you've tried everything else, but because it is the required final step to get rid of a problem...
@josiahsmith7059 Жыл бұрын

Even if it was true that the meaning was they tried many other "solutions" it's very obvious that none of the other ones would be genocide as there would be no need for anything else if that's one of your immediate choices. It's just so obvious that the 'final' means absolute or total here, you WOULDN'T need a FINAL solution if you started with the very thing that would "solve" it.

Love it when people use systemic and systematic as synonyms without realizing they have the opposite implications.
@88mphDrBrown Жыл бұрын
What? That's not necessarily true. Systemic: relating to a system, as opposed to a particular part. Systematic: done or acting in accordance with a fixed plan or system, methodological. There's a lot of situations where they could use either word and it's borderline impossible to parse which definition they think they're using without asking questions or them elaborating to make it clear. There's also situations where both could apply. They both used "systemic" ambiguously. Maybe I missed the part of the conversation you're talking about.
@hartyewh1 Жыл бұрын
@@88mphDrBrown Systemic in these areas of discussion refers to disparate outcomes to sub-groups of a population being caused by the existence of a system. It is used to underline the lack of agency or purpose in achieving those outcomes. That they are a side effect. Systematic means the opposite. If something is done systematically then the outcomes are the purpose. Any given legislation for example can have a mix of both behind it. Jim Crow laws were systematically racist where as the 1994 crime bill is systemically racist. The distinction is beyond important to understand and each time someone mixes the two it would be better for them to say nothing as on average the conversations around these topics have developed further.
@88mphDrBrown Жыл бұрын
@@hartyewh1 that's incorrect, systemic doesn't mean "unintended", it's just about referring to a system as a whole or comprehensively. It can be used regardless of intent. For instance I could say that the U.S. judicial system suffers from systemic racism in that "as a system it negatively disproportionately impacts minorities. Racism is embedded in the system as a whole, ex. Minorities de facto make up a minority of juries, minorities statistically have overall worse financial situations which make it harder for them to get effective counsel, minorities are statistically less likely to receive a higher standard of education so they're less likely to be lawyers and judges, etc.". Intent doesn't matter, it could be a side effect, it could be intentional, it could be a combination of both, or it could be unknown. There can be parts of the system that have nothing to do with racism. All that matters is that I'm referring to the system as a whole. "Systematic" refers to a methodical plan to achieve an outcome, there's clear intent at every stage and facet of the system. I could use all of the above examples (juries, finances, education) to claim the U.S. judicial system suffers from systematic racism and claim there's clear racist intent in every facet of the system. It's related but different context. The definition for systemic says nothing about intent, agency, or side effects.
@hartyewh1 Жыл бұрын
@@88mphDrBrown That's the whole point. Systems don't have intentions, people do. The move to critical race theory and speaking of systems and outcomes regardless of some idealogical fairness. The way to improve one or the other type is completely different and even the justifications for ethical bases to do so. Racism in the traditional sense as an interpersonal variable has been rather irrelevant for some time, but a lot of people are unable to make the distinction and are thus holding back the process of dealing with inequity. Not making a distinction between the terms is just a waste of potential in the clarity of language especially when it is culturally one of the most important topics.
@88mphDrBrown Жыл бұрын
@@hartyewh1 the first sentence of your definition for systemic is correct and the rest about "lack of agency and purpose" is not. To put it more simply they can't be "opposites" unless you think we only use these terms to only describe systems completely devoid of intent and consisting only of intent.

No dude, after the Nuremberg laws were passed western leaders started criticizing Germany for discriminating against the J's so much. Hitler handled this criticism by taking to the world stage and making a formal request to western democracies to ease up on their immigration policies in place at the time that limited how many green cards were available by country. Hitler then said that if the UK and USA would agree to take in the Jews that they are so concerned about then Germany would pay for the transportation and immigration fees for every single German jew to get to America. Of course Hitler expected his offer would be rejected, and when it was Hitler's reaction was to deliver a speech where he went through the jim crow laws in place in southern states and lambasted the west for having no right to make moral judgments about discrimination laws in Germany while we have nearly identical laws discriminating against black folks in parts of America. Now I'm no fan of Hitler, in fact I think he was a real jerk... but credit where credit is due. He made the west look like a bunch of damn fools with that one.

Hot take: Demon mama is *actually* a low rank demon that managed to escape from hell and take human form. However, she's such low rank that she doesn't have any powers and is basically considered retarded by the other demons. Her only job is to be insufferable and trigger people online.

Ez to tell when people know nothing about intl law when they hyperbolically claim that the UN definition of genocide is the most narrow. Chomsky refutes that definition with an even narrower one based on total annihilating, not “in part” as the UN definition states. Also genocide has been used in EU courts in a broader context that includes politician genocide. The term is therefore contentious and imo should be broadened somewhat from its current intl definition, but nowhere to the point at which these lunatics want to extend it to.

@jessie6600 exactly. A vague law is only celebrated by the people who choose how to enforce it, which changes over time. I probably wouldn’t have thought anyone would be arrested for a nazi pug joke, but here we are.

This was maybe the single most retarded controversy in the entire online lefty space because there was essentially no disagreement. If lonerbox had said, "there isn't a genocide going on against trans people therefore we don't need to do anything" I would understand the anger. But the funniest part is all the people arguing here agree on literally everything. They all agree that trans people's rights are being attacked and they all agree that advocacy needs to be done for them. It's insane.

Hitler made the request of almost all neighboring states within their sphere to send their Jews to the camps or to otherwise disenfranchise and expel them from their territories. Jews were literally taken from Vichy France to their deaths in Polish camps. This happened all over the Axis sphere in Europe. The Balkan countries came under enormous pressure to do the same. Croatia did so happily, the Ustashe being absolutely barbarous monsters.

Err btw I’ve just started watching the video. But it is true the Germans attempted to find “other solutions” to the Jewish question. They originally tried forcing Jewish people to emigrate via harsh treatment amongst other things. Those that did not leave then got subjected to even worse conditions including the labour camps until the final solution came in I think 1941 which is when it began

The scary part for me is that these trans activists are making implicit calls to violence, and a trans person actually going after Republican lawmakers is how the civil war starts. These activists don’t realize that they’re pushing a fine line of violence and if that line is crossed, they’re signing their own death warrants. Republicans make up a majority of active and retired military and law enforcement as well as gun owners. They’re quite literally egging on a civil war that they have no chance at winning. And if any violence were to happen, trans issues will be set back decades. And it’s scary to me in particular because I’d be stuck having to choose between my ideas and my family and friends. I don’t want to have to make that decision ever, my goal has been to slowly move them on these issues and I think I’ve made progress

1:10:00 My answer would've been that the circumstances of this particular "genocide" doesn't warrant the same kind of action, because we can achieve the same result through democratic means, which would result in fewer and less serious consequences. Then again, I wouldn't use genocide as a buzz word in the first place.

Destinys history knowledge is indeed terrible. the wannsee conference was in 1942 as the article stated. prior to the outbreak of the war the nazi state was very interested in deporting jews anywhere they could. Many jews will tell you, like i would, that i have family that escaped Nazi germany before the war. this wouldnt have been possible if the nazi state had no interest in letting jews leave. Something like half of the jews in Germany had left by the time war broke out. One of the tragedies of the pre war era for jews in europe and the rest of the world is how reluctant other countries were to accept jewish refugees at the time. The MS St louis is one famous example, which took place in 1939, just months prior to the war breaking out. Having shit knowledge of history is fine, but dont skim read a wiki page to support your argument without reading the whole thing.

Hiding Jewish people in your attic wasn't some sort of 'simple' decision to take lightly... The Nazis became explicitly clear that you could die for aiding Jewish people by providing them shelter, transport, etc. even buying valuables off of them... If you were hiding Jewish people in your attic it was a pretty big risk you were taking upon your household...

Death camps and labor camps were two very different things in Nazi Germany... Death camps were basically in Poland and your life expectancy was at best like a few days... Labor camps were elsewhere and as long as you worked hard you could survive like 3-6 months on average... During the death marches toward the end of the war this was Jews being moved in mass numbers out of the death camps (due to the Soviet Army coming) westward to the labor camps in like Austria and Germany and such... It's not quibbling over words, these were very different... I think Auschwitz had both a labor camp and a death camp and its kind of unique, like they had Nazi physicians like Dr. Mengele at the 'selection' where able bodied men tended to be sent to the labor camp side and people too young/old/sick/etc. or women tended to be sent to the death camp side...
