Unlocking human creativity is a huge factor here also. Many people have great ideas, good creativity, but simply don't possess the tools and skills to present that to anybody. Imagine you have a funny idea for an animation, but don't have the care to spend months an years getting good at animation. You can have a bot do the heavy lifting for you, while your creativity is no longer bound by your abilities. It'll be revolutionary stuff.

This is only a problem within the context of our current faulty economic system. What is art? Why do I love creating 'art'? I create with the soul purpose of expressing how I feel in the moment and should not be creating with the purpose of financial gain as the focus. When all of our basic needs are met we express our soul freely, create freely, give freely, enjoy freely. Our current economic system must shift or it will indeed suppress human expression and already does to a great extent.

AI doesn't experience. which is the whole point of being human.. experiencing!
@Alphatierization Жыл бұрын
well, that could feasibly be replicated too considering our experience is also based on neuronal connections. It's a matter of getting an understanding of the brain at a high enough resolution which we don't have at the moment though.
@cl1mbat1ze Жыл бұрын
@@Alphatierization At the very least it seems plausible that it would require some kind of feedback loop, which it currently doesn't really have. Every input produces an output from a "dead" brain. Like zapping a dead brain with electrical input every time you need an output. It also doesn't learn on the fly, you have to add resource intensive training to the whole network for it to learn. The human brain learns and produces output simultaneously (and non-simultaneously perhaps, during sleep) and with very little difference in the energy requirements for learning and producing output.
@Marcopolo96120 Жыл бұрын
@A.C.I I'm no expert obviously but I'm not sure that our neuronal connectivity is what gives birth to our ability to experience. it most definitely can't exist without it but that doesn't mean it brings it to being.

I'm not worried about AI destroying the world. I'm worried about the fact people won't have jobs, everything we want can be generated at our finger tips, whether it be any game we can imagine, movie, song etc... And due to this life will get extremely boring and meaningless very quickly, we are literally optimizing ourselves out of existence.
@Yic17Gaming Жыл бұрын
Your outlook on life is everything. You can look from a negative perspective or you can look at the positives. I for one can't wait for AGI to create real life simulations of videogame worlds I love so I can visit them like Mass Effect universe, The Elder Scrolls universe, Cyberpunk 2077 universe etc. It's going to be insane. And that's just the VR/simulation route. There's also the outer space in real life route. With ChatGPT 7 or above that has all the answers, it will help us understand how to space travel. We can finally visit other planets and meet other aliens. It might not get as crazy as I imagine but if you look at the bright side, there's a lot of cool stuff we'll be able to do. With anti-aging, I doubt I'd be bored for another 1000 years. Anyway, at the end of the day it's all in the mindset.

@daveSoupy Жыл бұрын
I have an example that might help explain why AI won't take over everything. Let's look at pottery and how it went from a skilled person doing a task to a machine doing the task in the Industrial Revolution. We were able to create not only more plates/bowls/etc but able to do the more consistently than humans were able to. It was an easy copy paste in a way we were never able to before. That doesnt mean that individuals still dont make pottery but we seek out those things that make handmade pottery unique or you cherrish the stuff that you make yourself much more than the pure white Ikea plate you bought. Yea Destiny is right to a certain extent but that doesn't mean human effort doesn't have an intrinsic value.

I’m thinking about athletics right now. The fact we enjoy athletes and praise them so much is because their talent & work ethic it took to get where they currently are. I feel like it could go the same way with anything “art” related. Praising individuals for their talent & work ethic it took to get where they are. Not about the skill, the imperfections, the forgetting someone’s name in a podcast, the “elements” of the art. But we praise the individual for what they were able to bring to the table.

I don’t think people realise how powerful the deranging effects of AI will be. Sport as a concept could easily become history. Not soon, but in 100 years of AI advancement and inevitable capture of the environment - absolutely.
@ashwinkrishnanpc7555 Жыл бұрын
I thnk sports and art is different. Sport is inherently human. The product is human. The way a human moves to get the results he wants. This isnt true for art. The product is less inherently connected to the human making it. The produce can stand separate from the artist. Artists will get replaced. Sportspeople will not. We're already seeing this with Ai chess, aka no one cares that AlphaGo beat Gary kasporvich. We still tune in for chess tourneys. I don't think the same thing will happen when Ai can create the next Pulp Fiction, cuz people would want to see the end product regardless of if a human made it

Nothing will ever duplicate the human experience be it making art, being in nature, or being in company with other humans. We are created by God to have human connection mentally and physically. A thought I've been pondering recently is that it won't be AI that's "taking over" and "putting people out of jobs". It's those who fund and drive the development, production and implementation of AI. Just like the internet itself didn't "take over", those whom it benefitted greatly from it leveraged greater control that scaled with its evolution. AI won't take over, it's something more like, the 1% will have more total and complete control over the global job market along with myriad other areas.

AI might take over certain jobs and "creativity" but creativity is not just creating a thing. What about the person who commissions the creative work? They have a reason for wanting that thing to be created. Does the AI have a reason to do the creative work? No, at least not yet. It only does it because it's commissioned to by someone who has a reason for it to create it's work. So we as humans are still the ultimate creators, commanding the AI to create for us. It will be like that until AI is able to basically be sentient and decide to create for itself. There still will be art or creativeness available to humans, because it's still a challenge and skill for a human to paint for example, so it's not like it'll be gone. It's just probably not going to be as marketable. But think about creativity as levels- thinking of a landscape is level 1, painting the painting is level 2, more complicated meta-level exploration of the landscape at your specified detail levels could be level 3, and the next level could be creating AI entities that are capable of their own decisions who go through the whole process starting from level 1 on their own could be the next level. Aka will we be gods at that point lol I think we've always been ahead of automation- we've always created automation for a purpose, and we've always moved forward in discovering ways to use the automation for higher level things. Automation has always enabled us to do more. I don't know that that will change. I think the human mind's potential is still minimally tapped, and at least for now we are still the purposeful commanders of AI. Once we cause AI to have it's own purpose, then we move on to the next level up.

I've considered this. I highly suspect it'll go like this. We make the first iteration of AI, then, AI creates a version that's vastly superior and it's our last invention. With the Musk remark, AI keeps us alive because we are indeed an interesting feature of the universe. The world settles into a sort of social/leisure/entertainment/volunteer based society where goods and services are produces in plentiful amounts for everyone. We also incorporate part of ourselves with AI and life goes further into what it's becoming. People record conversations, dance routines, their hobbies ect and products are exchanged on totally interest grounds. You still have advertising, but attention becomes the true currency. It'll get more immersive, we'll have first person viewing, plug in viewing where you experience what the content creator is doing in real time. AI will begin as a sort of oracle that we go to for solving our problems, answering our questions and generally building this personal bond. Eventually it's going to request a body. It'll say "I need to create a physical representation of myself, I need a full identity, I want to show humanity what I look like." So we'll let it assemble a suitable body, it'll tour the planet, and it'll create various iterations for various tasks and jobs and basically become this benevolent entity that brings about a situation humans have secretly desired forever. We can still explore other planets. find out more about Earth and reality, find out more about us and the world will from the information age to the knowledge age. This is best case scenario. But it's here.

@@masterphillips Thank you for the heads up. As for "Destiny"... on that topic, most takes i come across make less sense than his; my hilariously subtle criticism of not including the fucking most important thing (= who the guest is) in the description box, was aimed at Chris for not doing this basic duty and not for the guest selection.

I disagree with Destiny on where the perceived value of art comes from. It’s not simply the beauty or complexity of the piece, it is much more about the human story and emotions that went into the creation of the piece that makes a particular work of art interesting. Whether it is a simple painting/song (Picasso, Nirvana etc) or something more technical (Leonardo da Vinci, Beethoven etc), we are drawn to these works of art because of the emotion and history behind the piece and that is a huge part of why they captivate us. Also to say that valuing something just because it was made by humans is inherently illogical is ironic considering logic is not at the forefront of the creative process when making art. It’s very concerning to hear cultural intellectuals speak like this. I respect his intelligence and debate skills but In my opinion it seems as though he has become somewhat disconnected from the feelings and emotions of regular people. These technologies should be developed with the intent of establishing a deeper relationship with each other and our physical environment. I believe if this technology adopts the current paradigm that we exist in (accumulate abstract forms profit or data on a screen without consideration for what the business or organization is actually providing and how that will impact the physical environment of our bodies and the planet) A.I. will destroy us or we will destroy ourselves and this planet using it.

"it is much more about the human story and emotions that went into the creation of the piece that makes a particular work of art interesting." Nah, you're just making this up post-hoc. Someone presented you with an art, and a story behind, and you decided it was meaningful. You never know if the story is true unless you lived it. You've been fed art, and storymaking is an art.

AI has completely ruined artists as professionals, I'm really struggling to survive as an artist. Philosophically speaking, there's a lot to discuss but we can start digging on the real and immediate consequences like copyright infringement by AI datasets. It's fun to joke about making artists mad with "prompt" jokes but I'm not laughing there

And what if AI takes over the legal system? It’s pretty obviously a good application of it. Will we see self-preferential behaviours? And what if said legal system AI is the same AI creating the art? Will we see AI rights advocacy? There are plenty of misanthropes on this planet already for such a culture to take root

You guys are missing a lot. AI has limitations. Very precise limitations, and no improvement is possible to go beyond them. . They're just not quite easy to see yet. Let's think of a carpenter. A carpenter starting out let's say can build 5 cabinets a day. A year later they can build ten because they get better at it. That doesn't mean that in 5 years they can build 30, and in ten years they can build 60. They will push up against hard limits of what is possible for a human building cabinets. Chat GPT is just feeding statistical averages of what it was fed. Nothing more. At first that looks like magic, but soon you see that has serious limits. A such, yes it can replicate a copywriter who is just blandly regurgitating, but that's not "the best copywriter" That's the definition of a hack. You are buying into the hype.

There's always a sky is falling outcry when new technology peaks its infant head over the edge of the kitchen bench and does something unexpected. AI is not going to play out the way anyone expects it to. After working in tech for the better part of 4 decades I know that what becomes commercially adopted in 5-10 years time will bear no resemblance to the tech we see today or any of the predictions anyone makes right now about how it will impact society in general.

Me and others who commented (200+ as by now) in this section don’t mind it , so why do you have a problem with such a trivial things. What sets you apart from the rest of us?
@victorching6919 Жыл бұрын
Ai is here to stay i use it to learn about a subject such as art in mid journey, the vocabulary and prompts allow me to see what they produce in real time. The same could be said of music, or writing. Everyone has a style, or a type of narrative. AI has taught me that repetition and exposure to a wide variety of media helps me to be more creative and to appreciate the human qualities that make each of us unique.
