The FAB's are precisely what makes intel so risky. They're building out a huge manufacturing base and hoping that they can convince customers to manufacture at intel. This was strategy was done by AMD in the 2010's and it almost bankrupted them despite having direct financing from the UAE. I foresee similar problems for Intel especially since their process technology is so bad right now that they need to use TSMC for some designs. Even if 18a is a huge breakthrough im still not conivinced that we actually need all this fab capacity and we may still end up in a market where intel wins but theres an oversupply of semiconductors and the fabs bankrubt intel simply from their enormous fixed costs.

100% correct. They have 10nm capacity for… who knows what. The problem is there’s a lot of competition for chips companies don’t need to be on the latest node, so unless intel can stay ahead or on par with TSMC, the market will buy whoever’s making chips on the fastest, cheapest node.

Yes, after the crash from bad update. Working at Crowdstrike I don't think it's a bad investment imo. We're not going anywhere.
