I think the one thing people haven't been talking about is the fact the NOBODY is proud of or happy to be working a minimum wage counter job at a donut shop. It's one of those jobs where, when people ask you how long you've been there, you don't WANT to say "for years." Its not an impressive accomplishment for 99% of the population. therefore, nobody wants to "brag" about it on a national broadcast.

It is awkward because you don't get the culture. It was the same here. You can be neurotypical and have questionable interactions, due to an out of touch perspective gained by money. I don't think this shows Vance is doing too bad, the scenario is just super manufactured and he's just not that kind of guy clearly. Like Walz is clearly the kind of guy to joke with the cashier and Vance isn't. Add on that the whole interaction is being recorded and is somewhat high pressure for him, its not surprising that he is comes off stilted: I know I would in that scenario.

And the full one with Walz they do show the team that is with them, it's not hidden. Vance is a cardboard cutout and made worse because his advance team sucks shit at their jobs. He definitely got screwed a little by the awkward setup but if you cant overcome that as a politician thats on you. I worked retail for 20 years, you learn to talk to anyone, even people who hate you and want you to leave them alone. They might not be ecstatic but you can put them at ease. I mean the only people you can give charitability to are people you disagree with/don't like. I think by making sure to address the fact that one was edited/well shot and the other wasn't, you address the obvious criticisms that Vance defenders would bring up before they have a chance to, and it still highlights how even when you disregard the editing, Walz is just more of a normal person than Vance, who definitely seems like the type to address workers like they're sandwich machines instead of people.

I think this is a direct result of Trump firing everyone that ever gave him advice, and surrounding himself with yes men that either related to him, his family, or is a friend of the family, instead of based on their qualifications. I wouldn't be surprised if the person who filmed and okayed the video was someone's grandson, whereas Walz's video was obviously done by someone who had a decent amount of experience/skill behind a camera, had a good handle on composition, the editing was done in such a way to eliminate any dead air while exaggerating what was already a decent interaction, etc.

Most cities skew heavily democrat, and most people in a big city don't leave the city very often or at all, much less for something like hunting. People who hunt generally live in rural areas, which tend to be republican. I've met plenty of democrats that are so unfamiliar with firearms that they are scared of guns and afraid to touch them.
