I got one early on with Firefly and Icarus on it, and I love it. It's pretty much my go-to weapon for Crucible atm (although I'm saving for the vendor one 'cause it's got Third Eye), and I kick butt (usually) with it. It's also my highest primary at 297 (because I haven't managed to raid yet)

I've gotta agree with you with Hung Jury being #1, I just so happened to pick it up as my first ever Taken King legendary, simply because I liked its aesthetics. Boy was I in for a surprise. The weapon is an absolute beast, able to have a potential 28~ round magazine with a scout rifle with firefly is god tier, the sights are amazing, although my personal favourite has to go to the Torch HS2 sight as it allows the weapon to perform admirably even in the closer ranges. Keep up the good work Byf, it's nice to see your way of analysing things! I look forward to more in the future!

I'm a fan of the Fusion Rifle myself. Telesto is a strong weapon that can assist allies by cleaning ads and dealing constant damage but it runs out of ammo quickly. I also have The Vortex by FWC. 8 bursts. Mine has Battle Runner, Rangefinder and Skip Rounds for additional reserves. If you use Nightstalker, a fusion rifle is SO useful on tethered enemies.

The answering chord is actually really good, it has no special perks but it's a slow firing harder hitting auto rifle with almost perfect stability, in my mind that's all you need for a reliable scout rifle

My name has been....Byf! I have been a sub for close to a year now and must say you've elevated your YT Game. So a primary that deserves honorable mention is the Last Extremity which is a Crucible quartermaster weapon. The range and impact is more than hung jury. Magazine size and stability out the box may leave something less to be desired but I have a roll that has Rescue mag as 1st perk, Quickdraw or Casket mag as second perk & lastly Third eye or Surrounded. Rescue mag and surrounded are 2 really good PVE perks for a PVP weapon. Casket mag does hamper the already low stability but in PVE I think it's manageable.

Can't disagree with seeing hung jury at number 1. 20 round mag with triple tap turns it into a 28 round DPS monster against bosses. Firefly makes it a trash mob clearing machine. I have all but one TTK exotic weapon, and the hung jury is my primary for 99% of pve content.

He didn't choose no time to explain plainly due to the perk only being good very situationally. It is a good weapon, it outputs good damage, however it is not as strong overall as the other weapons. This is why the touch of malice was number 8, and not number 1,2 or 3

I'll just go ahead and inform you that unlike a lot of the primaries listed here NTTE is not only usable but top tier in the raid, including hard mode and is one of the very few weapons that never has to be switched out to something else for any particular mob. If you want to call NTTE situational, you need to redefine situational to state :all situations. That's the biggest strength of the weapon is the fact you can use it anywhere and it be top tier.

Very happy to know that I carry in my primary slot almost all the weapons mentioned in the video. I do have one suggestion especially for dealing with the Taken/Raid. I recently received a Doom of Chelchis (scout) that can be hired in auto mode. It is absolutely fantastic and is the only primary weapon I prefer over Hung Jury in King's Fall for most situations. The obvious issue is that is not as available and harder to obtain.

you hit the nail on the head with the hung jury. I got a different roll on mine because I got it from a package. It has zen moment and life support with hand laid stock. I wouldn't sleep on life support it's saved me so many times when I know I should've been looking at a respawn screen.

What about nirwen's mercy? I love it allot more than red death even if red death heals once you get a kill. Nirwen's mercy has three scopes for various ranges, headshots equals quick reloads, braced frame maxes out its stability and still remains 27 in the clip, and third eye always allows the radar visible. It's a little op in my opinion.

+Isaac Rushworth if there's no point in maxed out stability and a ranged scope than nirwen's mercy won't ever be able to perform at further ranges. The messenger was nearly maxed stability and its range and I used the range scope with it and still had no problem with range using it as well. Red death also over does its iron sights which is why it's one of my least used pulse rifles. My unflinching hawksaw and nirwen's mercy have more usage than red death and once I get my grasp of malok I'll use that mostly and forget about the other pulse rifles. Just because something is used allot doesn't mean it's the best. For auto rifles I use zhalo supercell and I wreck people even outside of close to close medium range because I have gun skills.

I agree with most of these judgments. I think as you get towards top three, the lines are certainly blurred between what's the 3rd, 2nd and 1st place choices, but my only disagreement is towards hawkmoon. There's a time and a place for that gun, and though it may not be bad in PvE, I would have never expected it to make this list. I do believe in PvE alone, Juju takes the cake over Red Death, but only slightly so, and the only gun I can not attest to is the Vanity. +bvd8 Yeah I'm a bit confused by this as well. It's a great perk on ANY enemy because EVERY headshot you get gets refunded. We all know the number one rule of an FPS is aim for the head so that's what we all do. For bosses it's even better because you can consistenly hit those shots so you never have to reload. I found that this works on any major enemy as well. And also Firefly is a perk that came up quite a few times during the video. Firefly requires you to hit headshots. This makes the perk just as situational right? Also, NTTE gets over 400 rounds. That's just insane.

I snagged triple tap and third eye on my last extremity, and I couldn't be happier. It has the impact of a hand cannon, though the range and ammo capacity of a scout rifle. It rarely leaves my primary slot (even for PvP), unless I'm running gaze duty (Zhalo) or I'm in Oryx's Chamber (Malice).

I bought the Hung Jury based on a video (I think it was yours). It rarely leaves my primary slot. It's a great rifle. I switch between the 2nd and 3rd scope as needed and it fill so many roles. I love using it on the Black Garden strike where I normally pair it with a Telesto and between the HJ and the Telesto I wreck the sections where the mass number of adds block the way forward and end up funneling into the line of fire. I also use the Zhalo Supercell on certain fights and it's great as well.

Something small that is overlooked about the Hung Jury is that you can actually turn off firefly when it is not a good thing to have. Say on Warpriest when you are dealing with the aura stacks, and firefly can sometimes eat an additional stack if you aren't super careful.

It's actually nice to see hung jury up there, it is a cracking work horse of a weapon. One weapon exception for defender Titans, invective. With the buff to their exotic gloves. Invective is a beast in the right hands. Can now be coupled with hung jury to have a very positive outcome. Red death and bad juju, say no more. Although I would have the juju higher.

I've been using a tuonela sr4. I got it from a gunsmith order the second week of taken king and it's served me well. it has rescue mag, hand laid stock, and firefly, making it great for getting me out of tight situations.

I used Boolean Gemini when I first got it, and not much else. Since then, Hung Jury, Jade Rabbit, Hawkmoon, Imago Loop (with triple tap and firefly) and, rarely, Treads Upon Stars have been on constant rotation. I'm going to pick up Red Death again soon as it was a huge favourite of mine in Year 1. But I totally agree with the top position for Hung Jury. I've managed about 30 shots on a Fallen Walker with the Triple Tap perk. Beastly weapon.

Nirwen's Mercy deserves consideration also. It's stability, rate of fire, and outlaw perk make it great for mowing through mobs. The Third Eye allows you to keep up with your surroundings and not be overrun, and it's a legendary so it frees you up to use the sleeper or Black Spindle or any other secondary/heavy exotic. It's my solid PvE main

I really couldn't agree more about the Hung Jury SR4. I have a 308 Hung Jury on my XB1, and it destroys. I did just get my first Doom of Chelchis on my PS4 though, and Will of Light really boosts the damage (obviously only against taken though). Firefly is a nice touch when you have a lot of minions that take a head shot and a body shot to kill as the blast is generally enough to make only the first enemy a two shot, and the rest, a one head shot (if they are close enough to chain together). Triple Tap promotes using this method as well.

Doom of Chelchis is amazing depending on the random perk you get. Mine came with full auto and let me tell you, it completely shreds enemies in PvE. Nirwen's Mercy is also another favorite of mine. All of the things that make it good in PvP make it good in PvE as well. It's an absolute monster.

I got a Omolon Cocytus SR4 from a gunsmith package with triple tap, fire fly and casket mag (slower fire rate means it doesn't mind the stability loss) , it's just like the hung jury but harder hitting. I love it. Certainly one to watch out for if he ever sells it.

Agree about the Hung Jury or at least the archetype. One of my playing partners has a vendor HJ while I have an armor day Tuonela SR4 with rescue mag, hand laid stock, and fire fly. Our rifles have the same crit values, both have fire fly, and max stability. Not a sliver of difference between the two, both are deadly. Team shooting ultras or majors with a couple of these scouts kills quickly.

I literally cheered when Hung Jury came in at the top spot - couldn't agree more. Wish more Fusion Rifles made it into the mix, the right rifles can do huge damage and ammo is more readily available than heavy. They kill low-mid spec ads in one shot, have decent DPS against bosses, and as a fellow Nightstalker mentioned they're monstrous against tethered enemies. But is there a decent one in TTK? I have the Telesto but the jury's still out on that one ;)

I personally love my Suros Dis 43 from the gunsmith. It has full auto and feels just like the Vision of Confluence did. I got mine to 313 and it is my go-to primary for pve right now.

Treads Upon Stars with explosive rounds and FireFly is an PvE Monster! Definitely my go to gun needless to say it came with a stability perk as well that almost maxes out its stability which makes it a solid choice in PvP.

I will try out that Scout Rifle, but right now my personal favorite Primary is my Antipodal Hindsight. It has Life Support, Spray and Play, as well as Armor Piercing. Its a high damage Auto. Life Support is great by itself, Spray and Play is great to get fast reloads (you always empty this things mag; Mag size of 26), and finally Armor Piercing lets me damage multiple enemies at once (like Bad Juju. Making it good for clearing adds) All around, I love it. :) But I will try out that Scout Rifle once I get more marks.

I was waiting on the Hung Jury... and I hadn't expected it on #1 because i thought The No Time To Explain would be #1, but hell yeah that thing is soooo good! it's also amazing for PvP, atleast to me.

The Vanguard scout rifle Not Like the Others is very underrated. You could use that weapon for anything, too. PvP, PvE, raid, whatever. Get some gloves with Scout Rifle Loader, and it's even better.

It has probably been suggested already, but I believe that No Time To Explain should have made it on this list. Its exotic perk, Rewind Again, makes it the equivalent of Black Hammer (year one, of course), but in your primary slot, making this weapon incredibly powerful against large unshielded bosses. In the hands of a marksman Guardian, it can be especially potent against unshielded mobs as well, and the Full Auto perk allows you to kinda just sit back and enjoy the ride, kinda like Bad Juju. Plus, it has good stats (exactly the same as Stranger's Rifle), which makes it just as viable in PvP as in PvE. This gun is my personal favorite. I use it both as the first weapon I grab as well as the weapon I fall back on when the rest have failed me. It is consistent so long as you are, and rewards headshots with high damage output and a continuous stream of bullets.

Treads upon Stars is on par with Hung Jury with the right perks. Mine has Perfect Balance, Triple Tap, Grenadier.

lol I was so bummed that I couldn't get the dead orbit scout then I remembered that I did dead orbit on my titan for a while and could buy it, infused it every chance I got and honestly it's pretty much the best pve weapon I've used in destiny, and I'm a day one player that got pretty much every legendary/exotic weapon you can name (not all them of course but most of them, you cheeky bastard) it's a weapon that I suggest for anyone of every skill.

if you're talking consistency, nirwen's mercy is where its at, literally a perfect pulse, 33 rounds, great stability and good range, best RoF to impact ratio, third eye and outlaw are both exceptional. I use it over red death so I can throw on telesto or BoltCaster for boss dps. Must admit I like having unflinching and stagger on red death though

hawksaw is hands down my favorite legendary pulse rifle. if you can get rodeo or some kind of stabilty perk on it you can chain precision shots incredibly easy

The Best pve primary weapon is the legendary scout rifle (Treads upon stars) with Crowd control and firefly and the mid column is a bonus ( i have armour piercing rounds), equip that with a gaunlets that have scout reload speed or gunslinger with chain of woe, profit. The best pve sniper rifle is the 1000 yards (yes keep reading) with triple tap and spray and play and mid column is a bonus ( i have skip rounds for more ammo) , equip that with armour has more sniper ammo, profit.

Maybe the No Time to Explain, it is a really good overall pulse rifle and that Rewind Again perk is amazingly useful.

Yep, completely agree with the list, but No Time To Explain needs to be up there with the Jade Rabbit. The vendor Hung Jury is the best way to spend your legendary marks, it's probably the best faction weapon Destiny has ever seen.

I love my Lethe Noblesse I scored from Challenge of Elders. Explosive rounds and Outlaw make it a beast for taking out ads. Also, due to it being a legendary and not an exotic, I can infuse it pretty cheaply.

As soon as TK came out I noticed Dead Orbit selling the Hung Jury and immediately got it because I thought it would be amazing! Watching this video right up until he said #1 I was thinking man...I'm shocked Hung Jury didn't make the list, than BAM it's #1! hahaha I have mine at 308 light and it's amazing!

I also love treads upon stars and no time to explain, treads because of its range and Rate of fire and NTTE because you can do criticals periodically and may end up killing a boss in one mag

Been using Hung Jury 24/7. Never touched another weapon after obtaining this one^^
