It's interesting, because this is exactly what you would expect from an anti-liberal/"aristocratic" administration. "This is too complex for lay people to understand, just trust me on this." In a democratic society, however, it is essential that representatives/officials persuade the public that everything is in order, as ultimately power rests with the people. That persuasion usually means giving more than a "trust me" to the public... but if it persuades, then it persuades. It seems to indicate we're moving to a more anti-liberal society. . .

Destiny has to dumb his takes down to slogans that rhyme. That'll make republicans pay attention. Like, instead of laying out a collegiate argument for why Trump's tariff policy is destructive, just say: "Tariffs rise, so do costs-American wallets take the loss!" EZ 2028 win
@notmyopinion4981Ай бұрын
I feel like the slogans, instead of attacking the other party, should represent what the Democrats are going to do. "Deport the illegal immigrants!" And "build a wall" are easily digestible, without needing any details, apparently they don't even care to have a plan. Donald Trump just says "we will fix the economy" and the people don't need more details. So maybe that's what needs to come across in these slogans. What are democrats gonna do, that would be in the interest of the people? "Fix the housing crisis/make housing affordable again", "make medical care cheap", "raise minimum wage", no need for more details, that seems to confuse the minds of the uneducated, rather than convince them.
@TheoHyman-BockmanАй бұрын
No, rhymes are cringe and easily made fun of. Trump doesn’t rhyme, he just keeps using specific words overwhelmingly often. So the better thing to say would be something like “tariffs are literally just taxes you pay on imported goods. You’re going to pay more.” Then repeat that exact phrase until people get Pavlov’d into believing it, even if they don’t understand it.
@youtubeviolatedme7123Ай бұрын
That's fun, but it's not as simple as Trump makes it seem. First, the catch phrases cannot be more than 4 words. Build the wall, stop the steal, eat the rich, end all wars, all cops are bad, Trump derangement syndrome, what is a woman, we're not going back, etc. are all less than 5 words. Second, Trump's slogans are never something like "Bidenflation is bad" he says "end all inflation" because there needs to be something hyperbolic for Americans. Obviously, DGG knows that saying "inflation is bad" is reductive, but that's unironically what the average American thinks. So you have to say something so outrageous, that it's hyperbolic even for the dumbest Americans. Saying that tariffs will be costly for Americans is just true. Saying that tariffs "impoverish" Americans is a little better, but "impoverish" is too many syllables. How about "Tariffs will bankrupt America." That sounds exactly like something Trump would say.

The tarrifs will increase the cost of living for Americans, damage relationships with countries and allys and it wont do its goal of bringing manufacturing back to america you will just go to the next lowest bidder, which will likely have lower standards and regulations on the products going into the USA and likely have shadier labour laws. If the cost of living was the biggest concern then Trumos platform is completely counter intuitive. Also hearing Trump complain about illegals crossing into the USA from Canada is pretty laughable as we see thousands possibly tens of thousands (i dont remember the figures exactly andnit fluctuates) a month coming into canada from the usa border as well as weapons. @thomaswalmsley8959Ай бұрын
@toedrag-release tbh I think it's honestly just a difference in visions. There's a group of people that want a return to 1880s to 1920s economy (I think in part for aesthetic reasons, so in that regard they're actually like socialists). They just believe those economies are better dispite the trades offs and have just sold it to the population without the population actually understanding what they're really advocating for. They just want 1920s American back, no matter the real world cost. Well that and what the other guy said, post hoc, economy strong under Trump, will be again, magically, while not actually paying attention to the words out of the man's mouth.

Hes right when he said tariffs changed this country. They drove the record high bankruptcy in farmers which led to the rise of suicides of farmers. So much that we had to bail them out for like 18b. But nobody every brings this up, its insane.
@PenndelАй бұрын
How did tariffs affect farmers in particular? Most equipment is made here in the United States and even then farmers aren't buying a tractor every year. Supplies like lumber fertilizer animals and seeds are all mainly from here as well. I genuinely don't see how tariffs hurt farmers more than covid did with the huge loss of sales and supplies that weren't being sent out like when they dumped gallons of milk etc. If anything isn't this an example of how tariffs work in the idea that because the people want year round avocados stores get them from Mexico and now Mexican avocados cost more but ones made here are cheaper thus American farmers are making more sales in volume? I genuinely don't understand the correlation. In theory it seems to me that because we like cheaper products we suffer from our own lack of industry and money staying within the country we bite the bullet on what a product maybe should cost? For the greater good? We eat unhealthy products because its cheaper to use fake sugar than real sugar already its our tendency to suffer for cheap and accessible, there are Americans who would pay 10k for a new car even if it cost us every single car industry job here.
@AG-qz8koАй бұрын
@Penndel Trump tariffs closed off a lot of the China market of soy beans to US farmers because of retaliatory tariffs, in 2018, and caused more agricultural loan delinquencies and bankruptcies in the sector, when China replaced US soybeans with Brazil's instead. This caused soybeans in the US to lose more than 75% of their export value to China in 2018-2019 and the US still has not recovered their market share on soybeans until today.

@@PenndelLook up the Whirlpool incident when Trump raised tariffs on washing machines during his first term. American jobs were created, sure….at what cost though? But because those cheap machines weren’t coming in anymore, people couldn’t afford new ones that were MADE IN MURRIKA. Well guess what happened next? Go on, go look it up and find out. As a Canadian I can’t wait for Trump to impose 25% tariff on our lumber. Americans love our lumber and you’re going to pay 25% more for it. Good for us, bad for you. Oil too. But here's the problem...nobody can tell you what a buck is worth. It floats. If the GOP decided to remove the national minimum wage law, that $36 Trillion becomes far more difficult to pay off -- including just paying off the interest. Once they get us to that level of pain/suffering, they will spring the national sell-off of government land, buildings, etc. All for pennies on the dollar. If you dont know what it looks like you will miss it every time. People are very good at hiding things they are ashamed of. Its just like how people can be suicidal and completely depressed, but the people around them have no idea. This same thing applies to drugs. Back when I was using, every time I would tell someone I was a heroin addict, they would be shocked, because I didn't act like what they think an addict acts like. It mostly has to do with what we think we know VS reality. Many people think its super obvious when someone is on drugs because of TV shows' and stuff, but in reality, its usually isnt obvious unless they are a full blown homeless tweaker/junkie. It usually isn't obvious unless they are straight up nodding out, or tweaking, flailing their arms all over, being super fidgety, and saying things that dont make sense. When it comes to homeless addicts, thats a completely different story. Usually its very, very obvious. There's a spectrum lol There's your new addicts, who you would never know are on drugs because they are trying desperately to hide it from everyone(usually teens or young adults). Then There's your functioning addicts, who you might be sus of, but usually they dont show enough to be confident. Most often times the families are aware of their use, but the addict is the main bread winner, and treatment means missing work, so people know they are on drugs but just kind of ignore it. These people usually dont try very hard to hide it. Its just kind of accepted as "it is what it is". Then there's your homeless addicts, who are usually very obvious, but still can be hard to identify depending on the persons level of self care. Obviously homeless addicts have no stake in you knowing if they are on drugs or not, so they typically make absolutely no effort to hide it. Typically. Of course it depends from person to person, but from my decades worth experience being around all these people, everything I said is generally accurate.

I was a dean’s list/president’s list student in college and for like a year and a half of that I was coming back from my classes or internship hours and shooting 4-6 bags of dope and no one except for my gf and small group of people I used with had any idea. I just keep it to myself because people have very strong preconceived notions about this stuff but I was on a scholarship at a 55k/year private university where lots of rich families kids attended and it was insane how many of them were functional (or not functional lol) addicts with H, percs and xanax.

1:25:45 "I don't like paying for other people's healthcare," my brother how do you think insurance works? You think you're prepaying for your coverage or something? That's not how it works. All the money from all the subscribers goes into a pool, and the money from the people that don't get sick is used to pay the claims of the people who do get sick. Literally the entire concept of insurance involves some people NOT getting sick and paying for the people who do. That's partly why some economists (including myself) think HEALTH insurance in particular is a pretty stupid product -- because everyone WILL get sick, and the older you live the more likely that is, and the more costly it tends to be, so in that sense health insurance fails because 100% of people will need it. So it would probably better to not "insure" people against something that's definitely going to happen, and just take money from everyone every month based on income and pay for healthcare as the need arises.
