Weird seeing engineering in other countries! For mine we were five days a week 9-6 every day, never had an 8am lecture. Loved instrumentation and analogue devices modules and I tutored Maths in my free time. Fun parallels indeed

I, too, am an engineering student. Does it get any easier as you get into your junior/senior year? Currently I am struggling to keep up with the homework. I spend around 10 hrs a day on homework, which doesn't seem normal! but I am wondering if it's just the college i go to. My engineering classes are online. This is because very few students at my community college are engineering students (around 7). No lectures or anything, the homework is created by the publishing company. I am also struggling with physics. My physics teacher's lectures do NOT match the difficulty of the homework. The homework is online and also made by the publishing company and graded automatically. The experience I've had is that the online homework is extremely difficult to solve and difficult to understand what they're asking. The engineering homework has been incorrect with grading numerous times.as well.. I'd say around 15 times. At least my teacher responded to my emails and tried the problem himself to verify the software was incorrect. I just hope things get better when I transfer to a 4 year school.

As a recent aerospace engineering grad from a private 4-year university (Dec 21), the biggest lie that I had ever been told while in college was that classes get easier after fluids, thermo, and dynamics. It definitely got harder, but I’m sure you know by now that each semester teaches you to cope with the classes you have at the time and that doesn’t change. The 10 hours a day on homework was definitely a norm for me by the end of junior year but it definitely goes by easier and faster with a friend group that you can work with (which is somewhat ironic since engineers are usually painted as anti-social smart people). I’d also be ready to make sacrifices in your social life if you haven’t done so already. Unfortunately, the classes will require a lot of commitment and if you need to work as well then you’re going to be juggling schedules with not a lot of free time in between (I tutored engineering and math courses and graded for my aircraft structures class, big mistake during senior year) I’ll also say that each sub-discipline of engineering presents its own unique problems and hurdles to get over. My aerospace problems were gibberish and scary to the software guys and their problems are gibberish and scary to me. But try to make as many friends as you can, because anyone who tried to get through engineering alone failed both literally and metaphorically (since working in engineering is all about teamwork!). I’m proud to say that my friends and teammates helped me to where I am today (software engineer at an aerospace company

@@bryankitsu6253 I never had a social life. Lol. I am not one for partying, hanging out with friends, or doing fun stuff. I am all business. So, junior year was the most difficult for you? That's when I'll be transferring to a four year state university (not private.. way too expensive). Don't get me wrong, I have had straight A's, so when I say struggling, I don't mean grade wise. It's just difficult to deal with online homework. I'm hoping that the next college I go to does not have the dreaded online homework created by the publisher. Do you think if I've done well this far, I can make it the rest of the way through my degree? I'm a sophomore right now in the spring semester. I did work for a while but I chose to not work this semester because I wanted to focus on my studies. I'm taking diff eq, a computer programming class for engineers, circuit analysis, macroeconomics, and western civ. It's 18 credits. I'm a bit concerned about diff eq. Is it difficult?

My little brother finally finished school for engineering. Graduated last year, now he serves food at a steakhouse. Meanwhile I went right to work outta High School. Expecting my 2nd daughter in 3 weeks and will be moving to a bigger home by the end of the year. Want a good life?? Make it one. 2 pieces of paper from 2 diff schools will only get you so far. Now you got kids graduating college with ZERO work experience. They're fucked.

Weird... where do you even live? I worked part-time since high school went straight to trade school became an independent contractor 8 years later I was making 90-120K per year (depends if I took 2 months off per year to travel) During the pandemic I closed my corporation and now I'm finishing a software engineering degree I don't want to do physical work anymore. My younger brother finished same degree last year and on his first job makes 76K which is not much but just wondering why the heck would you work in a steak house with an engineering degree? Even when I was 20yo doing wiring in construction after trade school I went from $18 to $34 an hour within 4 years after specializing in access control systems. I'm in Canada I only envy the salaries in the US but definitely tons of work out there for your brother.
