"No no no, you're obviously a scammer. Now I'm going to hang up the phone because I need to mail this box of cash to my bank." This is obviously a terrible thing happening primarily to the elderly, but the ridiculousness of the situation is difficult to ignore. You went above and beyond and it's unfortunate that the people who are most aware of scammers are, quite understandably, skeptical of you. My parents, in their 80's, were fooled by a PayPal scam. They got as far as the market checkout line with a handful of gift cards. A conscientious clerk recognized what was happening and saved the day. What really pissed me off was that the a-hole scammer made them drive to the store during a horrible thunderstorm with high winds. They could have been hurt. Keep it up.
@michaelinhouston9086
@michaelinhouston9086 2 жыл бұрын
That victim reminded me of an incident witnessed by my brother Tim - he saw a woman at the drugstore in a heated argument with the clerk over gift cards - the clerk told the woman she was being scammed and the woman would have none of it - the argument went on for several minutes. Ultimately the woman stormed out because the clerk refused to sell her the gift cards - no doubt the woman went to another store to try to buy the cards. There is an old saying that it is easier to scam somebody than to convince a person that they have been scammed.

My mother has been contacted by scammers plenty of times before. She knows very well to ask us (her kids) to verify things before she goes ahead with it. I know this video is 2 years old, but you could ask the victims to phone their family members or friends to confirm that there's no such thing as a bank asking customers to withdraw cash from a branch and post it in envelopes while lying to the employees about the contents of the envelope. Very dodgy behaviour there! It was so frustrating listening to this victim rat you out to the scammers. Kudos to you for ensuring the people played their parts.

The reason it's easier to scam someone than to convince someone they've been scammed is because of the human ego. Nobody likes the idea that they can be fooled or get had by a scammer because they feel embarrassed by the simple mention of it. The ego is one of the greatest tools but also the most common and destructive downfall of mankind. Very little of what you do in your day to day life isn't driven somehow by your ego. Very little. Often even the kind things we do is driven by our ego and sense of self.

Remember reading a study about how it's easier to scam someone with a high intelligence due to them overestimating their intellect. They think they are above being scammed by people stupider than they are. It teaches you 2 things: 1. Just because you're a genius on one subject doesn't mean you're not an idiot. And 2. Until proven otherwise, view everyone you meet as either just as or more intelligent than you. That way you're always on guard.

You did a good job in helping stop the money going to the scammers. It's strange how some people think it's normal to put a lot of money in a box and send it to some random address because someone on the phone tells them to do it.

and then there’s my mum who won’t pick up a call from an unknown number in case it’s a “scammer”, i have to explain that simply picking up the phone will not charge her credit card or grab her bank details 💀

I don't pick up calls from unknown numbers. 95 percent of the time is people trying to sell me something. My line phone is just disconnected at this point, because in that case is 100 percent of the times.

My phone won’t even ring with unknown numbers. And I’m alright with that as long as they leave a voicemail I can get back to them if they are legit.

Don't be so naive, these scumbags will never go out of business, the money is good and there are only so many good guys to stop them. It sucks, but as long as the Indian govt/police doesn't do something about this, it will never stop. All they need is a cellphone to fuck someone over. The only other way is cyber education on the victim's side. These scammers aren't even all that convincing, maybe getting some elderly to view Kitboga and such will help them spot the scamcunts in the future

@@vincentadultman6226 Vincent, I can't argue about your point. About the only thing that would stop these guys is if some idiot were to start a war in that part of the world. Unless, someone were to hack into their power grid in ZONE 5 of Kolkata, India. No power means no internet.

You should corrupt their bios in addition to ratting the OS. Then, the computers would silently become useless as if it were a hardware failure, and the installed rat would still be viable.
