This is Medal Of Honor Rising Sun. This is a first person World War 2 shooter that came out in 2003. In the game you play as Joseph Griffin as USMC marine right after Pearl Harbor is attacked. The story follows the Pacific Campaign. On this part Joseph destroys the Japanese super carrier ship and sinks all the gold.

Thank you Professional for playing this game. While Frontline will always be my favorite, Rising Sun still holds a special place for me. The ending sequence, particularly with the amazing score is one of the most memorable moments in gaming for me. Games like these were made by people who actually cared about history and honoring the sacrifices of those who served. Messages like what appeared at the end of the credits just really speak volumes. I can't imagine a modern "WWII" game like Call of Duty Vanguard ending with a heartfelt thanks to the veterans of the conflict.

This mission reminds me lots of World at War's black cats mission. You fly in an armed recon seaplane, destroying Japanese merchant ships supplying the enemy along with saving allied sailors. The music and chaotic nature of the mission almost made you forget it was a mission on rails game design wise.

Trivia: 1) the carrier modeled in-game is modeled after the Taiho supercarrier, which was sunk by the USS Albacore with one torpedo. 2) The UK also had carriers in the Pacific theatre.

The Japanese had a Lewis gun clone called the type 92, the one we see in this game is the aerial version without the barrel shroud because when it was fitted to the planes it was cooled by the air.

Hi Professional, love your work mate and I'm so happy that you played Medal Of Honour Rising Sun. I grew up with the classic MOH games on PS2 and this one was always one of my favourites along with Frontline and Airborne, two more MOH games I recommend you play if you're interested. Rising Sun and this level in particular always resonated with me personally. I'm from the UK, Northern Ireland to be specific but I'm half English as my grandfather is an Englishman. My family is a military family with relatives who served in the army during WWI and WWII, my great-grandfather in particular served in the Royal Navy during the Second World War. He was mostly stationed in the Pacific region, but in August 1945 just before the War ended, he was on a Royal Navy battleship on passage to Australia from Singapore. The ship sailed past the coast of Japan near Nagasaki and it was at that exact moment when the United States dropped the 'Fat Man' atomic bomb over Nagasaki. The British hadn't been warned that the target for the second bomb had been changed, originally the bomb was intended for the city of Kokura but due to heavy cloud cover they switched to the city of Nagasaki instead. My great-grandfather witnessed the mushroom cloud rise high above the city from the ship he was on, he later said he had never seen anything like it before. Unfortunately the ship was within the blast radius of the bomb and thus the crew were exposed to the blinding light and radiation effects, including my great-grandfather, he sadly contracted cancer from the radiation which eventually caused him to pass away a couple of years after the war had ended.

The largest carrier of the Imperial Japanese Navy was Shinano which was a hull of a Yamato Class Battleship repurposed as an aircraft carrier with a displacement of 69,000 tons. She had a very short career of only 10 days at which she was sunk by the submarine USS Archerfish. I believe it is still the world record for the largest vessel sunk by a submarine. The English had a few aircraft carriers but a few of those were sunk by German and Japanese Forces. Germany completed one the Graf Zeplin which the vessel itself was complete, but they didn't produce the aircraft for it. All of the carriers that carried out the attack on Pearl Harbor were destroyed at the Battle of Midway. Most of the Imperial Japanese Navy was built by Britian. In the years spanning ww1 until the 1930s. A few ships were built locally by Japan's industry such as the Yamato class, Nagato and Fuso class of battleships. But some of their more famous battlecruisers were built in Britian.

The UK had aircraft carriers. They were designed for the Atlantic so generally more armoured on deck. A kamakazi hitting a British carriers was a lot less likely to do significant damage then on a US carrier. Japan was inspired for the idea on pearl after a british carrier attacked Taranto sinking some of the italians best ships.

100% agree. Too many WWII shooters are focused on the Western front. That's part of why I love COD WAW; it showed the Pacific for the US and the Eastern front with the Russian army.

You can get your Sten back by approaching it on the table. Pearl Harbor can play on Co-Op Lastly you should do a 100% completion on this stream.

I'm not too familiar with WW2 games but I can say that I liked Medal of Honor. Even though most of the gameplay was to shoot the enemies and to run from the danger, I liked the story and how real the events were from the weapons to the clothing, planes and boats. Thank you for this great game Pro and for all the useful explanatios regarding the war between USA and Japan, the conflict and dedication. I will add it to my playlist of WW/open world games.

Wow this is crazy timing I just broke out the ps3 & downloaded metal of honor frontline lol. Funny story as a kid had a family member who was a garbage man & while digging through the truck midway through the shift (happened/happens a lot especially after they leave richer neighborhoods 😂) a WORKING ps2 with MOH Frontline in it, scratch free! The stuff people throw away man smh this was like 06-07 so it’s not like console was outdated. Beat game within a month or two…..so many memories

The British did have their own aircraft Carriers during the war they actually invented the what for all intents was the worlds first Aircraft Carrier HMS Argus at the end of WWI. Besides the British other nations had or were building Carriers during the war. Germany had one they never completed, (Graf Zeppelin look it up) the French had a bad one that saw little action, Italy had one that was never quite completed. A few small nations may have used escort carriers like Canada and Australia but don't quote me on that.

Professional if you still do WW2 Games I will recommend a a few other games. 1: Call of Duty Big Red One - It has the Vichy French, The Italians, and the Germans as enemies. 2: Call of Duty World At War - It’s campaign swaps between the Americans (The Pacific Campaign) and the Russians (The push to Berlin (the first Russian level is Stalingrad but the rest are at Seelow Heights and Berlin)) If you like strategy then I can recommend RUSE (historically inaccurate but kinda fun since you have to keep in mind supply chains with your income coming from Supply trucks which can be destroyed). And of course the Company of Heroes games.

Germany had some of the best troops, best equipment and some of the best leadership in the military but due to Hitler's leadership and his policies that his word was law when it came to decision making. The leadership of the German armed forces were essentially shackled in what they could do. US generals, admirals and officers had more freedom in making decisions on the fly than German generals, admirals and officers did.

Love these old ww2. Games and sadly a lotta the newer generations z and up will never be able to hear the stories of there great grandparents in ww2. Because a lotta of the ww2 remaining vets are dying off and that's why these ww2 games are here to educate newer generations. Even though i love hearing from the old timers myself same for hearing from both my grandfather's. May they both R.I.P. and on a side note do goldeneye 007 next then the splinter cell game series next the stories on splinter cell was amazing related to a little bit of fantasy but it was by an author of war and military tactics Tom Clancy himself sadly the newer generations will never know who he is either. But may he R.I.P. as well. But God bless all vets who fight our freedom everyday a lotta folks nowadays take advantage of that way too much now.

I personally think both Japan and America were relatively equal on the naval front. America's fleet showed how strong it was durring the Battle of Midway but the Japanese managed to get America down to its last carrier USS Enterprise and even to the point of it was looking like Enterprise would be America's only hope until the Essex carriers finally arived.

Professional is so interesting as a KZbinr. Huge fan, but he is always skid-ish on race issues (mainly African Americans) it’s frustrating. Like he will give you a fully detailed History lesson on pistols, but will act like he can’t research racial issues. Like w the war, the phrase “respect the troops” was used by white men who used to harass black soldiers while they didn’t go fight in the war. I’m still gonna be a fan, but it’s interesting.

@B M I do not know what you are talking about. I talked about racial issues several times in this playthrough alone. If you watch my pearl harbor part I talked about how racism caused the US to underestimate Japanese capability. Even after the attack the media was struggling to figure out how Japan attacked Pearl Harbor. They thought Germany armed them. They couldn't believe that Japan would be able to plan something like that. I also talked about the government discriminated against Japanese Americans and put them in internment camps several times in this playthrough. If you want to see me talk about African Americans in World War 2 I did. Watch my video from last year called " The Battle Of Midway" from COD vanguard. I talked about African American units in World War 2 and the Tuskegee Airmen some of the best pilots of the war. These men were not given the credit they deserved and the army was segregated at the time. I also loved Devotion one of the best war movies I have seen about Jesse Brown the first African American pilot in the US navy who fought in the Korean War. He made the ultimate sacrifice fighting North Korea and China. That movie should have been a bigger hit at the box office but kids these days don't care about real heroes like Jesse just the Marvel superhero nonsense. Also I am assuming you have never seen my red dead streams where I talk about the confederacy and how it was setup by a bunch of rich elites who wanted to keep slaves. I argued against the point that the Civil War was mainly about state's rights. The war was fought mainly to keep slaves and their leaders in power. Alot of Southern Americans push this false narrative that the confederacy had nothing to do with slavery when its not true. The founders of the Confederacy mainly supported slavery and it was in their founding documents. They even passed a law which prevented Slave owners with 20 or more slaves from being drafted into the Confederate army. They also refused to give African Americans who were forced to fight for the Confederacy uniforms. I cannot stand when people lie and distort history. If I ever do a Darkest Of Days playthrough I will talk about the civil war in detail. I also argued in my streams against the point that it was a war of " Northern Aggression". The South started that war with their secession and their attack on Fort Sumter a union fort. I have done numerous charity streams as well for Africa. I did charity streams for Heart Of The Bride which helps kids displaced by poverty and war in Africa and I did charity streams for Action Against Hunger which helps alot in Africa. I have donated thousands of my own dollars over the years to charities live when I stream. I have talked about how European powers have destroyed Africa and I will talk about this in my Far Cry 2 playthrough when I get to it. Its very unfair that you say I avoid racial issues. Come on man. When I do a playthrough of Call Of Duty Finest Hour I will talk about the African American tank unit in that game. And I respect all veterans. It doesn't matter to me what race, gender or sexuality someone is. If they served this country and they are a decent human being and a good person I have tremendous respect for them.
