Non-destructive editing, coming from 2D and 3D modeling, is going to be a total game changer for audio.

Non-destructive audio editing has been the industry norm for over a decade. I'm glad it's finally here in audacity, though.

Excellent explanation. Thanks very much. Does it work with makros too? If not: once You arranged all the vst plugins in the sequence and with the settings You want, You can than copy the track, empty it and You got Your new track perfectly set up for Your next recording...

Real time effects are in the macro list but I haven't tried that yet. I don't know if using them in a macro is destructive but I suspect it probably is. But again, I haven't tried it as of yet. When I set up empty tracks like you're describing I save the empty project with the name TEMPLATE so I can open it up and use it again for a new project and rename it at that point. It works.

Why do you put eq at the top of the chain? Is there any necessity to do so? Thanks!

Thanks to Audacity for this massive improvement, and thanks to you for your coverage. On a different note ... just a little feedback: Your audio, at least a my end, has a lot of sibilance. It should be easy to correct at your end.

Is there a good video editor alternative to VLC? I wish the people at Audacity would create one!!!
