My son's marching band in 1996 played HAVE YOU HEARD, LETTER FROM HOME AND MINUANO in band competitions in Southern California, the west and nationally. They won most of their competitions because of their artistry, and this wonderful music that they performed brilliantly. Pat Metheny is an inspiration to all that love music. He is one of the all time greats I have ever heard. This music penetrates my soul and it makes my cry it is so beautiful. There is nothing like it!

Pat metheny is probably one of the most un-celebrated guitarists yet he is one of the best! pure genius, no-one plays like him. I listen to his music everyday and i'm only 16.

Now that your 29, do you still listen to PMG? Lyle did some wonderful music, with his musicians and solo before he died. That was a terrible loss. I think there’s a point in life the death of folks you know and those you don’t personally know, but it leaves a hole in the world. Maybe it’s because I am old. I’ve listened to these guys since about 1978. The first time I saw Pat, he was touring with Joni Mitchell and he played her song Amelia. I was hooked. I was also and still am a Joni fan. My best to you SCJ

@@SusanJohnson-xl3ys I'm 26 and I feel the hole you're talking about that Lyle left behind. I really enjoy his own music but also the contributions he made to the PMG.

All of Metheny's work is perfection, from his melodies to the harmony and structure. It is no wonder itunes has a radio channel dedicated entirely to Metheny's work. As far as I know, the only station exclusive to a single artist.

Imagine how it's like to be Pat Metheny. Think about how it must feel to be able to write such a masterpiece. The looks on his face kinda seems as if he says "Wow, I wrote this. I actually wrote this. Go Me!!!" Kudos, Metheny and the Metropoole Orchestra.

THIS MUSIC IS LIKE THE CLOCK TIC TACKING THROUGH THE LIFE THAT PASSES WITHOUT A FILTER IN THE HEART, EXPLODING IN THE MIND, ERUPTING SOME TEARS THAT WASHES OUR LONELY FACES. THEN ECLODES INTO RITMIC HAPINESS. LIKE RECRIATING DREAMS FORM THE WRECK. ENDING ON A VITORIOUS PLAN.

I've heard this live, on CD and never thought it could get any better. I was wrong. The orchestra just put it over the top. I'd love to see him play with a full symphony, or should I say hear him. My eyes would fill with tears of joy so I'd probably would only be able to hear this master at work. This song will live forever as one of my favorite PMG tunes. I have leaking eyes right now.

This gives me some serious Spring/Summer nostalgia. I have no idea how, but it just does. My absolute favorite Metheny tune. Mind you, from 1:30 the clarinets give it a dark sound. I love it! Oh! And you know the orchestra must've loved this piece. How excited did the trumpets get here? 5:24 Of course, Pat gives a nod of approval after that. :D

Perhaps that is why he wears the same shirt in every performance throughout the years so as to not expend any thought energy regarding fasion, but rather, in his music - the very thing that he is!

I have been listening intently to the awe-inspiring genius of Pat Metheny for the past 40+ years! Is there a more talented musician on the PLANET!? Pat Metheny is, in my mind, an unparalleled composer, performer, innovator and band leader whose depth of talent may never be reached. Does the man ever sleep? If he isn't performing in a new configuration of top-notched modern musicians then you might find him working on the next phase of his Orchestrion project.

The most AWESOME aspect of this performance is hearing the REAL orchestral instruments Lyle Mays was trying to emulate on his Fairlight. There's advantages to both, but it's always so nice to hear what's almost a forgotten/lost artform. It's especially WAAY KEWL when the horns do their build after the piano solo. The expression on Pat's face is PRICELESS. Almost as if he's screaming "Did you hear that Lyle? Now, I know what you were hearing.! WOW!"
