Pat wearing a Peaches Record store tee shirt, Peaches was a record superstore in Bethel Park Pennsylvania (a suburb of Pittsburgh). My mom managed it for years, met a lot of artists and had the run of merchandise for years. Got in to PMG in 1978 in high School from cruising the store racks!

There was a Peaches in Ft. Lauderdale FL. One night me and my roommate went there on a Jazz Fusion shopping spree. I bought the " Dixie Dregs " first album " Free Fall " for fifty cents. Funny because 4 years later I met the keyboard player Steve Davidowlski when he came in my little music store in Atlanta. We're still good friends to this day.

I recall the night in the 70's when I purchased this album. 6 decades later and it still sounds just the same. Thanks Pat. God Bless Lyle.

This music must have sounded like a revelation to 1977 ears... so futuristic and expansive, yet being played by four hot shot kids.

This comment is really on target. Was walking down a corridor at college in '77 or '78 and heard this album being played in a bid to sell tickets to a concert that night. My first reaction was: "What is that?" Went to the concert and my musical world expanded... big time.

Yes, I saw an old " Austin City Limits ". Everyone in the audience were like seeing and hearing ET's landing with a message. Being a professional musician my whole life it was very satisfying to see all those folks so blown away. Oh, and the show was from the 70's.

I was born in 83, so I missed a chance of experiencing them perform live in the 70s and early 80s. Sucks because their stuff from the 70s and 80s is what appeals to me the most. I discovered their music in the early 2000s and even though I wasn't their to watch/listen to them perform when they were in their 20s, I am grateful that KZbinrs like this channel make it possible to hear their early performances.

Thanks for posting. The picture is priceless, never mind the music. I've been a fan since 79 and have got my tickets for the Moondial tour. Being a PM fan is a full time job.

He hasn't lost his groove. He's just changing it up. He's got to please himself. One could say the same thing about Bill Frisell. Still love them both! I think I understand. I don't think you're hating on him.

Thanks for uploading this gem. When juxtaposed with his multi-track, layered studio grandiose in the 1980s, one might be inclined to dismiss this crudely recorded stuff. Still, this performance definitely conveys as much beauty, depth and intricacy as his studio recordings in the aforementioned period.

Absolutely love this! One thing I always wondered: When the PMG was criss-crossing the US in the early years, playing constant gigs for little money and doing all their own driving and setting up…. What about the piano? Did they travel with a piano or renting them locally? I think the latter is unlikely as they often played in remote places and certainly didn‘t have the money to rent pianos and have them tuned….

I heard a Fender Rhodes keyboard, as well an acoustic piano, the Fender was small and could be used for traveling it was basically a traveling case that removed the cover and there it was, great early days sound

The guy in the glass door It's a section of the photo of Pats head reflecting in the vans window, blown up and moved to the left under the text. It really is a fine edited job, as this was probably done in a darkroom to blow up ie (increase the size of the original photo) and then cut and placed over the original photo. They would have to make sure it was not too grainy so it would match. A Lot of work for sure. Since Photoshop arrived a novice can do an edit like this in a few minutes. thanks for reading
