Very inspiring. Taking the time and meticulous on every detail. And while keeping up the video with angles lighting, etc. Looking forward to part three. Thank you for doing this.

This is quality content. I have a note for "while you're in here" - have you considered replacing the clutch master cylinder? I know you were doing the ranger method on fluid replacement for a while, but it might be a good time to do this while you have the car up in the air. It's tricky, but not impossible and its good to know that you have the revised OEM part.

I am having no clutch issues (knock on wood) and put in fresh fluid at least once a year now to hopefully prevent any issues. Plus I do not have headers so the fluid does not get nearly as hot.

Just as I thought, you should replace that balancer, you mentioned it. Did you not have a power steering cooler? I don’t recall seeing it. Non Z-51 car?
@Toys4Life10 күн бұрын
I do not have a PS cooler. Easy to add from Ebay (GM easy bolt on - used) if need be.

Pro tip On Corvette suspension Mark bolts alignment with nuts for reassembly tightening The aluminum suspension parts will get fooked up if overtightened New stuff - be sure to torque new spindles and anything with a tapered stud that fastens to aluminum
@Toys4Life12 күн бұрын
Love it!! I can't stand the idea of "tech's" zipping things down with air tools without torquing them properly. I won't be removing the a arms so no worries about alignment but EXCELLENT point if you do for any reason! Cheers!

i would recommend a delrin steering rack bushing while you have it out. Will improve steering feel quite a bit.

I didn’t remove the rack, I only dropped the cradle & didn’t have an issue with the install
@Toys4Life12 күн бұрын
To do that, you need to support the engine - which is fine.. Unless I'm missing something, that makes it kind of difficult to raise and lower the car because the engine is now separately supported?

I was able to replace the oil pump without dropping the oil pan on my LS1... is there a big difference between the LS2 and LS1 pan? I admit it was a little tricky but did save a lot of extra work.
@rubenrobles636812 күн бұрын
Loving the guides something I would like to add is before you remove the steering column from the rack, lock the steering wheel in place with seat beat or bungee make sure it doesn’t move. Also don’t use an impact on the cradle studs seen some free spin and strip from the frame due to age and wear of the car.
@Toys4Life12 күн бұрын
0:19 Excellent point & I 1000% Agree!

Complete missed that great job. If you didn’t have the fly wheel holder or the other tool is it possible to just put it into 5th or 6th with causing damage?

You should change that water pump. The pulley is missing all of it's paint where the belt contacts it which means that it is slipping on the belt. That means the bearings are going out in it. It may "feel" okay when turning it by hand but it is not okay. Ask me how I know.
@Toys4Life12 күн бұрын
HA - I hear you but it turns like butter and looks too new to be original 2006 vintage. Maybe the pulley was painted with cheap paint? (:-) If I am wrong (and it does fail next summer - I will remember your warning and kick myself!

I have a question about the harmonic balancer. I pinned mine when I replaced it and never thought twice about it but if I were to replace it again 50k miles from now how would I get the new one drilled in the same location for the same identical pin position? By the way your videos are absolutely amazing.

Great vid .. but Removing the alternator makes things smoother. Lowering the cradle isn't necessary. Completely removed the rack, not necessary plenty of room just lifting it over tension pulley. Remove the lines off the rack completely if you're 'removing the rack from the car.' Remove your fan assembly. Push the ac condenser towards the front bumper you'll need the room. Use your belt to lock the crank if you have an automatic. No tool needed. Heat the crank bolt 'torch' u won't hurt front seal. Remove the crank bolt. Remove timing cover. Set the timing. Remove cam retainer plate. Install 9/16 rods for lifter support. Remove cam. Install cam. Use new cam retainer plate. Reverse procedure 😅 Walla. And you saved yourself time/frustration.

I appreciate the comment! I am sure this works for you (& likely others) and I would love to see a video of it for your method to really sink in - maybe I would adopt some of it. Personally, I hate to fight with stuff getting in my way while working so I tend to remove things to avoid the frustration. Also, the rods are 5/16, not 9/16 and 22 inch minimum length for anyone reading this.
