In today's Maintenance Monday video we install the 709 SeeLevel II tank monitor system to our motorhome to get a more accurate level measurement our RV tanks. This system monitors the battery voltage, fresh, grey, and black water levels as well as the LPG tank with the levels shown in percent on a digit LED display instead of the normal Full, 2/3, 1/3, Empty display readings that come with most RV's. We go thru the installation process with an easy to follow step by step video guide and update at the end how its been working for us since the install.

Love the video you two! Almost bought one in Q, but I'm not 100% sure my tanks are poly, (I have to open the belly to find out) once I know that I'll know if I can use this system! They say it won't work on steel tanks! I had this system on my horse trailer and loved it!

We were lucky to have a see level monitor installed by the previous owner of our Phoenix Cruiser. Great upgrade! I think you will be very happy with it.

Wow. Where have your videos been. Just found this and it is great. I did purchase an older RV and it does need new sensor system. This video makes me feel I may be able to do it myself. Hopefully you are still rv’ing. Thanks for the video.

We thought about the Bluetooth version but with the second monitor it wasn't that necessary. Good luck on your install. Hope our video helps you out. You will love the results!

Would it be possible to get an update on how this system is working out for you. I would like to install the same tank monitoring system but was looking for a longtime use update. Thank you

We LOVE our SeeLevel monitors. Still using it everyday and never have had an issue with it. Especially living off grid in the motorhome for the last six months here in Alaska. We hav etc bring water to us using our bladder so we are always checking levels to make sure we stay on top of everything.

How does accuracy work on a triangular shaped tank?

Are your sensors closer than 2" to the aluminum framing by the tanks? If so, any issues?

Did you have to put similar sensors on your propane tank as well?
@athuddriver
@athuddriver 5 жыл бұрын
Good overall video but there is one nit pick I must make. When one mounts the sensor strips they should be near the edge of a tank. In your case, this isn't really appropriate for your grey and back tanks because they are not perpendicular but for the fresh water tank it is. The reason is that mounting the strip in the center of the tank is the place where the tank "bulges" out the most and that can cause sensor failure. Failure can come from loss of adhesion or circuit traces separating. This is not a guaranteed failure but one that can be avoided.
@RVingtoAlaska
@RVingtoAlaska 5 жыл бұрын
Donald, as you can see it was difficult to mount the strips near the edge of the tank. As most DIY instals, you have to adapt to the conditions presented and overcome any challenges. I feel I mounted them in the best possible position given the shape of the tanks. There will be very little bulge because of the shape and position of the tanks. However, I will have to get in there and inspect the sensor strips very soon.

Liked your install vid. Question did you end up mounting your new monitor in a new cut out hole and put a cover over the old,possibly for another monitor down the road, or did you fashion some sort of filler of the old hole and mount you new monitor in the same area. If the latter what did you use to fill?

What did you use for the propane sensor for the readings? Manufacturer, part number and name please.

Good job on the install, but you didn't show the second display. I'm assuming these units are on a communications bus which is the reason for clipping the ends on the sensors which essentially gives them a communications "address". Is there a switch or jumper on the second display to allow it to work with the other display? I'm sure this is way more technical than anyone would want to know, I'm just curious. Oh, and not having to do this install on your back under a dirty trailer with rocks digging into your back is not fair.
@RVingtoAlaska
@RVingtoAlaska 6 жыл бұрын
William Kizer we didn’t show the second display as the video was getting too long (I never want to go over 20 mins on a produced video) but all he did was tie in the 2nd remote cable with the front remote. No special switches. They both read the same. Hopefully that answers your question.
