The way you explain about how lifts works and how it was made is making me learn lot more about lifts. I’ve been on many lifts and some lifts can accelerate very quickly.

Most interesting lift setups for me are.... 1. Twin 2. Up and over bridge lifts 3. Double deck 4. Intelligent levelling by relays 5. Funiculars that use lift logics 6. Track locking lifts 7. Climbing lifts 8. Paternosters

I saw on a button at the end, a person in wheelchair symbol. When I first saw the video, where people get sent from the foyer to ground floor or first floor to take the lift. I assume there would be some way of always directing wheelchair users to the ground floor.

1:15 UOB Plaza Tower 2 in Singapore has a similar setup but omits lifts I & K & serves lifts A & B from floor 9 instead of the ground floor, probably to save even more lift shaft space (as the latter lifts' shafts can be wedged between lifts' C, D G & H's shafts) but would raise energy consumption, as people going to floors 5-8 from the ground floor would have to detour via floor 9

Destination Dispatch would be much better if it didn’t rely on those stupid touch screens (and no, that handicap button isn’t going to cut the mustard. It’s way too slow). Still would be nowhere near as fun to film.

how this double deck system works is the pit and top are bigger so that the bottom and top decks will be able to arrive at the same floor

Thats how the twin works. Double decks usually don't work like this. They need to have 2 ground floors. They are exclusively for buildings that have the correct layout for people flow with a double deck lift.

What Ecodisc motor is used here? MX40? And have you seen a Kone KCE with a mechanical brake release yet? And how did you bypass the lift RFID card?
@jakewynn
@jakewynn 2 жыл бұрын
Trust me mate. It is NOT an ecodisk 🤣 it most definitely has a motor room
@benolifts
@benolifts 2 жыл бұрын
I believe it is an Kone Ecodisc MX100. MX40 wouldn't be powerful enough. MX40 does something around 1600kg @ 8.5 m/s. So at 3600kg that would be around 3.8 m/s. So this lift has to be a MX100.
@benolifts
@benolifts 2 жыл бұрын

Imagine doing this with relays! This is not your standard lift, it's actually really complex. Wish we got to see the logic cabinet on this
@benolifts
@benolifts 2 жыл бұрын
The first 3 double deck scenarios could be done with relays. The 4th one that this video is about would be almost impossible. The amount of calculators involved would be crazy for relays to do. I could be possible for someone to invent such a thing, but there would be practical problems, such as the amount of space needed to house all the relays (probably be an entire room full of racks and racks of relays), and then there would be the added cost of all the relays, then the biggest problem would be that the originally engineers that maintain the lifts would not have the knowledge on how such a complex system would work. Actually the ThyssenKrupp twin is an example of this, as there are only a handful of Twins in the world and ThyssenKrupp has a dedicated team to maintain them who understand the system as an ordinary engineer would be clueless.
@hariranormal5584
@hariranormal5584 2 жыл бұрын
@@benolifts I mean, to be very fair, even these lifts have some people totally from the "Computer Science" land helping them. But given software today, it can all just live in the board, and you actually do not need dedicated people on site to just "set it up". But an ordinary engineer not understanding this even in an mechanical level still stands true, as the whole darn two cabs on a single frame, etc is not a very common thing, really amazing actually :P
@benolifts
@benolifts 2 жыл бұрын
@@hariranormal5584 I was more referring to that if the algorithm for this was created using relays, it could be more than 1000s relays. A normal engineer would not be able to fault find this. On this modern day system, a normal engineer should be able to maintain this, hopefully, although I would not trust a generic engineer to have a clue what they are doing on most proprietary lifts. Special engineers would be needed to set up the algorithm on this system when it is first installed as this would be something outside of a normal days work for most lift engineers.
@hariranormal5584
@hariranormal5584 2 жыл бұрын
@@benolifts Heh, it's probably anyways Kone and other "first tier lift companies" doing innovation. I never expect any generic engineer or any generic company to ever make double decker lifts because they simply are not your standard of the shelf thing, it's a quite propitary designs by Kone, etc. Would be amazing to see Mitsubishi varients of this of they have any

Actually, some buildings that allow both upper and lower cars to serve all floors do not need Destination Dispatch. Take for example Republic Plaza. Both Lower and Upper Cars can serve all floors in the zone they are installed in.

What's your opinion on the multi elevator
@benolifts
@benolifts 2 жыл бұрын
I think it is one thing to put full effort into creating an over the top prototype that makes loads of people and news reporters go "wow this is an amazing technical achievement". But it is a completely different thing to make a product that can be produced and sold, that sells for a price that people will buy, and that does a function well, and that is reliable. With ThyssenKrupps past record for futuristic lifts that are very unreliable (think of the over bridge lift and the Isis design). With the many many moving parts on Multi, and ThyssenKrupps poor reliability record, and the design being too dependent on software, and the lifts being side chassis for a skyscraper lift (no lift faster than 1 m/s should have a side chassis), to put it simply I would be shocked if ThyssenKrupp managed to pull this off.
