I've applied Cerakote's Trim Restore. IMO the key is to properly prep and apply it in ideal conditions. Thus far my client has had it for over 4 months and gets compliments all the time on her Jeep. It lives outside and doesn't get washed often. Looking forward to the Spring to do my SUV's black cladding.

I applied Cera-Kote (sp?) to the trim on my 2015 MKX 2 years ago, and it is washed weekly. Still looks GREAT!

After watching your prior video, I bought and installed Cerakote Trim Coat on my 2001 Ford F150. Lots of faded black trim on that truck, and a large black hard tonneau as well. That was approximately 6 months ago here in rainy Central Florida, and it still looks terrific. I'm very pleased with the product and the outcome, with two caveats. One, its expensive if you have a lot of black trim to treat and have to buy the wipes (I used an entire box doing my truck). That additional cost might be negated a bit given how long/well it wears. And two, if you accidentally get it on glass, paint, or other trim you don't want it on, stop 'immediately' and wipe it off. It flashes really quick in warmer weather and once it does, you aren't going to get it off. I even tried lacquer thinner on a window I got it on and it still wouldn't come off. Again, I'm overall very pleased with it.

Cerakote (or rather their parent company, NIC Industries) used to license their formula to Wipe-New prior to 2017. I used that formula 7 years ago and it still remains on all but the shiny trim that was next to my windows. If it still has that durability, I wouldn't mind paying the $18 for a box of wipes for 1 car. Their website says you can use a magic eraser wetted with non-acetone finger nail polish remover to remove cerakote. I wonder if that would be safe on windows? Or maybe a Razer blade would remove it (look up videos of using a blade on windows).

@@themikeroberts Best solution I've found is to simply stick a damp microfiber cloth in my back pocket and immediately wipe off any of the coating that gets on the windows or paint. If you get it off immediately, it comes off without issue. If its allowed to dry (or flash) that's where it becomes a bear to remove.

Lithium cubes are awesome and the Cerakote looks good too. I also like the Gtechnique C4 and I just bought the McKees ceramic trim restorer which I have not tried yet. Thank you for the video!

Two years ago I used Cerakote trim on our then 18 year old Corollas. On all exterior black plastic trim including windshield cowl. Still looks like the day I put them on. Amazing. Where I live we have winter weather and summers as high as about 32 Celsius (90 Fahrenheit)

Put cerakote on a Rav4 that was a year old-cleaned plastic with dawn spray and soft brush to remove all oils and dirt before applying and it still looks great. Only drawback, the wipes were not consistent-some wet and others not so much.

I'd like to see if you can reapply the Lithium Trim Cubes over itself and see any new improvement. The selling point for me with Solution Finish has been the ability to reapply when it eventually fades more. Most trim coatings seal up the plastic permanently.

Hi Josh. I was just wondering if you could answer a question about hard water spots on plastic trim. Is there a product i can use without having to use a buffing tool? I have plastic trim on the sides of the roof of my car (runs along the sides from the windshield to the rear windshield, it's about 1 inch thick). When i got the car from the dealership i didn't notice it, it was a couple days after that i noticed the hard water spots all up and down the plastic trim. Could you give me any tips on how to maybe remove it?

Have you tried using plain old Penetrol? Seems to be mostly linseed oil but I put it on tires, one of which is a rear mounted spare that gets hammered by the elements and it seems to work a lot better than any tire and trim dressing. It is a little slow to dry but once set, your good to go.

Is there a way to get the Cerakote that you used on the back of the back wheel well to release so it can be re-applied? I have some streaking were the sun came out and heated the plastic up and made it streak. I got it evened out and it looked much better immediately but later began to streak again? It's been on for a while, probably close to a year. I just don't want to treat it again and trap the streaks again if it can be avoided.

They do! It’s currently only available on Walmart.com I think. I’ve been testing it and so far I’m really liking it. It did 2 coats to get a darker sheen that I wanted but the product goes a long way!

Here is my question: do I just wash the truck and trim really well and apply Cerakote's Trim Restore on the trim, or do I need to remove the Back to Black before I apply the Cerakote? Anything cream applied; Adams VRT will always win, even over Chemical Guys VRP. Someone performed a massive test of tire dressings and found Adams has the least sling, longest duration, etc. I would assume it performs the same on trim.
