Detailing the Rivian R1T - Coating The Wheels and Paint | CSU | Armour Coating | Part 2

We finish up the finish polishing and proceed to coating the paint and the wheels. I decided to use CSU on this because it's Michele's, and we all know the atrocities this family vehicle will see. I am also switching my wheel coating process to utilize Armour Wheel Coating. I've had a great success with this coating due to its longevity. I trust that this is the best coating for my wheels, especially on this truck.

Its funny how that company that copy’s you a lot The clean garage all of a sudden decided to carry that wheel coating brand as well. I noticed they did the same with ego blower. You were the only one talking about ego and now everyone decided to sell it.

Yep, that's how it works. What these dork commenters don't know is that I worked behind the scenes for several years to open up Ego to detailing. They only wanted brick and mortar dealers that sold the entire line. I finally got my in through Flex. Once we got approval the Flex sales people then got permission to open it up everywhere. I chop the trees down, pave the roads, then everyone else gets to roll right through. I'm working on a way to make sure this doesn't happen in the future.

Matt grab you a flat bar or one of your long pry bar the flatter the better, & roll the tire on the bar and use that leverage to your advantage. I used to change semi tires & we used our tire spoons. Also please try to keep your hand out of the spokes i noticed you did that in another video. Keep it coming 🤙🏽

Yeah Matty this white color is probably better after looking at that light blue that our service rep has on his Rivian it doesn’t hide the imperfections and swirls well if they put a little bit more metallic in the blue it would probably hide all that so I think white is probably the way to go and I understand why you got white !

17:19 I just applied their Quartz coating on my car paint. That one, much like the wheel coating you applied, is also super grabby. The second towel wipe is smooth, but the initial wipe isn’t.

Use eulex promis any new polish residue will come off the trim. Follow with citrol 266 and panel wipe.

So I just tried some stoners tar and sap remover spray on my dad‘s MDX and then tried some Perl whatever is in the stoners just works versus mineral spirits!

Yes, I don't like it. A 1" machine needs to be as small as possible. It is much like the PXE-80 from Flex. It is too big and bulky for the intended purpose. RUPES Nano is the best option.

@@ObsessedGarage I was hoping that the Hybrid would be a competitor to the HLR75. You don't think the Hybrid with a 3" plate has comparable performance?

It's just like the PXE-80. It's pretty terrible as a 3" and way too big as a 1." I want my 3" to have as much torque as possible. You often times need to lean on a 3" machine. The dual sized machines don't have enough output for it. I'd rather not have a 1" polisher and have a really capable 3".

Would you recommend this wheel coating over Dlux for a beginner?

The coating from Detail Armour only requires a single layer application, so it is a more simple process to apply.

So, I am thinking about giving the Crystal Serum products a try. Currently on Adams Graphene Coating. Question I have is, can I apply Exo5 over top of CSL immediately? Or do I need to let CSL cure for a certain time before applying Exo5 over top? Lastly, can I use any topper with maintenance washes? Example, like Gyeon wet coat?

I don't think it ideal, but I've put it on right away with no adverse effects. I don't like Wet Coat and water activated silicone dioxide. It's not actually doing much other that leaving a film of stuff that I think would be likely to clog up the coating quicker.

Did I just miss it or are you guys not reviewing or inspecting the paint at all after correcting the area you’re working on? When coating wheels should try to cut up pieces of an applicator pad to apply coating on wheels. Works really well especially on more intricate style wheels. Btw someone needs to tell Mike not to leave the towels on the vehicle when coating

@@ObsessedGarage sorry. I meant to ask if you guys were looking at or inspecting the paint after correcting whatever panel you were working on after doing your passes? Something I would also recommend that might help with future corrections on saving time and what not is that on vehicles like this is to plan out the sections of panels to work on. Seemed like the 3” was used on areas that the 5” could have easily taken care of. Not a big deal but does save a lot of time in the long run and becomes clearer as you spend more time behind the polisher and gain more and more experience. She came out nice though 👍
