I just discovered your channel, you're an honest blessing. I was in a foster home as a teenager and while there another girl my age was brought in. She had absolutely awful matted hair. It took me weeks but she finally agreed to allow me to try and fix it. We sat on my bed every single night for a couple hours a night, talking, listening to music, and crying while I worked and worked on her head. We didn't have any products besides a brush, comb, conditioner, and a kid's detangleing spray. It took over a month, but we finally got it all out. My friend looked like a new girl and it gave her so much confidence back. We felt like we owned the world , I held onto that memory for years to come, reminding myself I stuck with something that took so long until I finished. Silly as it is, it helped get me through high school and college, knowing I am capable of things that at first seem impossible. So yeah, you may "just be detangleing" hair, but really you might be giving someone their life, smile, and confidence back. You're a Rockstar ma'am.

Just found this channel.. as an elementary school teacher, I remember one fourth grader who was in another class but with whom I connected emotionally. She had lost her mom and dad was doing his best to care for three kids and a daughter. She used to come in and hug me every day and I always noticed her matted hair in the back. One day after school (I ran that grade’s homework help and then theater program) and between the two programs she took a hairbrush out of her backpack and asked me to help her. My mom was a hairdresser so I remember the pain of combing through knots so I did what I could as gently as I could while making her laugh about all other things. I think about her a lot, this was 6 or 7 years ago now.. AR if you’re out there, I’ll always have a big hug ready for you. ♥️

First, you take care of yourself. Compassion fatigue is a thing. I do cat rescue, and have a background in crisis intervention. I am very aware of what caring can do. Take a breather when you need it. You can't help others if you're burned out. Love you for what you do.
