My daddy tweeted his metal detector to sound a different pitch with aluminum/poptabs, etc. He would hear the beep, find the treasure and we kids would cover up the holes. LOL. He was a real treasure finder. This was back in the 60’s/70’s.

I lived in Fort Myers for 5 years and only went to the beach once for about 2 hours. I'm not a beach person. I'd rather walk the beach at night. I moved back to New England bc Florida just wasn't for me, but I'm very interested in metal detecting, always was. Maybe I'll take it up as a hobby in my retirement.

Our condo complex on Ft. Myers Beach was destroyed in 2022 by Hurricane Ian. Since it still hasn't been rebuilt we rented a place for this winter. I was on the fence about whether to bring my metal detector with me this winter, thinking all i would find is trash left over from the storm. However after watching this I leaning towards bring it along. Thanks!

@DetectFlorida2 ай бұрын
There is SO much debris. They did a pretty good job getting it out of the dry sand, but couldn't do anything in the water. @DetectFlorida2 ай бұрын
I find it with my detector, and put my toe right behind the coil. Then I move the detector out of the way, place my scoop at the tip of my toe, and take a deep scoop. It takes a little practice, but once you get it, its not too bad! Its important to have a large scoop though. Digging in the deep, murky water is a HUGE pain when you have a cheap scoop
