I was thinking Texas might not have stuff that old, but then remember they found the La Salle off the Gulf Coast. 1560's so there is all kind of old stuff around here that could have washed up from hurricanes and what not. I like your detecting video style: no nonsense, factual and well researched sites. Keep up the good work.!!

@@MydogTobesNowhere near this much. Unlike popular opinion gold like other mineral, particulates are affected greatly by saltwater or fluids containing high concentrations of sodium bicarbonates. As the ring in its current condition is as valuable as a broken record it would need to be melted down and stamped with its weight and sold as refined gold which you would get some money for but i doubt it would be enough to cover the foundry costs. The silver he found is not worth much if it is that and I have my doubts due to how rusted and corroded it is (silver does not do this it instead just turns black but remains smooth this black layer can be removed with silver polish that you can buy at an everyday shop. That silver probs has some other metals added to it and is not pure tho. All in all I would say if he went to the effort all of this would be in the range of 100-250 max.
