Not, we need current only when only light from source fall on it, so it is possible only in reverse biased form. Yes, we can use other elements in doping only if they too provide holes and extra electrons.

Cathode is negatively charged electrode and on its surface coating of phtoemissive material is carried out so that it emit electrons when photons coming from light source or emitted by analyte strike its surface.

Sir in video you have said that if signal to noise ratio is low then response of detector will be better but in below graph as the signal to noise ratio is increasing dowmward but signal become more prominent

Signal to noise ratio should be high. This ratio will increase when value of signal increases and value of noise decreases, so we will get more prominent signal of analyte in this way.

Depletion region is actually the barrier. If you see in picture, at the joining boundary P side contain electrons and N side contain holes. Both are stuck together like cement, not allowing flow of charges. However if this barrier is thin, it can't hold the charges, charges will flow, and flow of charges produce current.
