So, this is a tacit acknowledgement that US military are no longer dominant within the first island chain, maybe even the second too. Good progress.

Pointing out Huawei as a major success does not make your case. US have no options to deal with China. DJI, a chinese company that play a pivitol role in drone technology, does not suffered by US active "deterrence" policy. DJI will strive whether US hawk like it or not. So is LONGi, BYD, Bytedance, CATL and more. US is not the only market anymore.

"At what cost" is a great quote of US think thanks. So at what cost it is to deter China militarily or non malitirily.

What rights the US have to deter China Mainland from pursuing reunification with Taiwan?

Whose to decide on China's territorial integrity (Mainland + Taiwan)? These hired researchers at Hudson? Even the US government officially recognizes that only ONE China with both the Mainland and Taiwan as part of it. Looks like current administration in Taiwan is no longer trying to unify with the Mainland, it left the Mainland with the responsibility to carry out the task of reunification...

What rights do China have to deter US, Japan, S Korea, Australia, UK, EU, Philippines, New Zealand, India...from assisting 23m people in their fight against dictatorship? BTW, Taiwan's government is Republic of China, she has never been governed by People's Republic of China, and so the two places have not been unified under one government. Consequently, what reunification? Historically, the government in mainland China had only claims of sovereignty over Taiwan periodically, not entirely. For example, Taiwan was ceded to Japan after Sino-Japan war in 19th century and was a part of the Japan Empire until 1945, and afterwards, a part of ROC until today. The ROC lost the civil war to PRoC in mainland China, but has maintained uninterrupted control over Taiwan and has functioned as a separate but independent government with its own political and legal system, military and currency. The ROC does not claim to represent people in mainland China internationally, she only represents the people in Taiwan through free elections. So, CCP's claim of sovereignty over Taiwan is unilateral, and without legal basis.

We don't speak about rights in geopolitics because there's none. There's no governing body above countries which can guarantee any right whatsoever so it's just about interests and which countries are mighty enough to guarantee theirs. In case of Taiwan, it's part of 1st island chain (from Japan to north of Borneo) to contain China from the east/Pacific so it's important for US' interest and it does need to deter China from taking it over.

@@priscilacarolinemaierthoma3661 (The communique was released on December 15, 1978, in Washington and Beijing.) The United States of America and the People’s Republic of China have agreed to recognize each other and to establish diplomatic relations as of January 1, 1979. The United States of America recognizes the Government of the People’s Republic of China as the sole legal Government of China. Within this context, the people of the United States will maintain cultural, commercial, and other unofficial relations with the people of Taiwan. The United States of America and the People’s Republic of China reaffirm the principles agreed on by the two sides in the Shanghai Communique and emphasize once again that: Both wish to reduce the danger of international military conflict. Neither should seek hegemony in the Asia-Pacific region or in any other region of the world and each is opposed to efforts by any other country or group of countries to establish such hegemony. Neither is prepared to negotiate on behalf of any third party or to enter into agreements or understandings with the other directed at other states. The Government of the United States of America acknowledges the Chinese position that there is but one China and Taiwan is part of China. Both believe that normalization of Sino-American relations is not only in the interest of the Chinese and American peoples but also contributes to the cause of peace in Asia and the world. The United States of America and the People’s Republic of China will exchange Ambassadors and establish Embassies on March 1, 1979.

I don't think Hamas could have pulled off the October attack without some Israeli cooperation. How could Mossad, the most capable intelligence outfit in the world, not notice the movement of men and material, nor hear any chatter about such a large scale offensive? Netantahu might have lured Hamas into the attack in order to gain justification to take Gaza.

What are you talking about? Did u accidentally comment on the wrong video? They were discussing China, not the middle east.

A free lesson on spelling and geography to you: the middle kingdom in Asia is spelled as C_H_I_N_A, whilst the place where Hamas resided is spelled as G_A_Z_A! These are two places in two different continents. On the other hand, perhaps you think that there is a hidden link between CCP and Hamas, or Gaza is actually part of China, and hence your commentary on something that's completely unrelated. Either way, the lesson is complimentary.
