I bought it a few weeks ago at a local Massachusetts hardware store for $30. Simply the best rake EVER....dethatched 15,000 sf in about 2 hours and I was ocd about getting everything up.

Used the Sunjoe and overseeded with Cool Blue a week and a half ago. Little cool blue babies just started coming up 2-3 days ago. Lawn looks tough right now but my goal is “green tho” by Halloween.

Dethatched my lawn about a week an half ago & over seeded. Lawn is coming back nicely after the pounding it took (that's what she said). I'll need to figure out something for watering next season. My water bill was $500 dollars more this last qtr 😱. Very little rain this summer in the Midwest were I'm at.

Nice info Justin , I actually did the same approach , no aeration only liquid form and ran the sun joe with the dethatch cartridge and overseeded , waiting for week 3 to give it a cut . thanks for sharing this method .

Detatching tool the one with tines in it is real just a power rake (remove dead grass not thatch. To remove thatch your need to use the other adapter with the blades it will cut lines into your lawn.

? About watering...So my Reno went very well and growing in very nice. I haven't had to water as frequent since weather was cooler and unfortunately I have a light green fungus on top layer of soil. Water doesnt seem to puddle so I'm curious as to why i get the green fungus layer? So frustrating to say the least. My PH is at the high end of the optimum range and Phos is high but everything else is ok. Any idea why? Happens in my backyard also.

I do this exact process, but I have always used the 'verticutter' blade reel with my SunJoe ...my buddy wanted to buy a dethatcher, so I was thinking of selling him my SunJoe with the new/un-used 'dethatching' reel(at a discounted price, like half the $150 I paid) then I would just get another new one with a new 'verticutter' reel(as my blades are worn enough that now I can only use it on the lowest setting) ... however, now the SunJoe is either sold out or they want very high prices for them! are they "discontinued" ? is there another brand that does verticutting? - as right now I am forced to keep my SunJoe and try to find a replacement blade reel

On the Tenacity you mentioned using 1/2 ounce per 1K. Do you mean 1/2 teaspoon, or do you use 1/2 ounce? If I’m reading the label correctly it would be 1/2 teaspoon.

Good video and right on time too! Yes, the SunJoe would have made the dethatching much easier for you. It looked like you might have been using a standard leaf rake to get the thatch up, but, if you haven't seen it, I would suggest that you take a look at the Groundskeeper II dethatching rake if you have to do this part manually. Also, if you are using Scott's Stater Fertilizer with Weed Preventer then by putting down the Tenacity is just duplicating the active ingredient in the Scott's Starter Fert, right? Keep up the great videos!

My Sunjoe did the same thing.. turned out I was using the wrong extension cord.. you need to use a12 gauge cord.

Try a different extension cord. They recommend a 14 AWG for under 50’ and 12 AWG for up to 100’... you may be overheating the unit due to using what appears to be a 16 AWG 100’. May be worth a try.
