Hi , This Bob Wilson from NC . Question for you when you put insect killer on newly grass?
@thefpvlife7785 Жыл бұрын
@@bobwilson3435 Allow the grass to get established & strong. I wouldn't worry about insects till late spring.

It's too late for significant renovation here in northern NJ. I've done 2 successful renovations 2 falls in a row now, and you really need to have it planted no later than Sept 1st here, which means all the prep work including the kill should start right after July 4th. I watched the weather trend closely this summer, and experimented with seeding on the 2nd wk of August- and that lawn now already has the appearance and durability, even dark color, of a mature lawn. I'm just getting the washout zones to fill in with weekly blitz fertilizer apps now. Everyone else in the else in the lower weather bands in the cool season zones has a little more time. It also helps to be a Project Manager 😁.

At what point do you dial back the watering schedule?
@TheLawnWhisperer9 ай бұрын
Once you start mowing it
@TheLawnWhisperer9 ай бұрын
Should be around the 3 week mark depending on grass type (ryegrass will be much sooner, fescue around that 21 day or so, bluegrass may take a little longer)

What grass would you recommend for primarily shady areas? Learned a lot from your videos. Thank you.
@keithecklundii5225 Жыл бұрын
Depending on the amount of shade, your best bet is Tall Fescue with a mix of fine Fescue in it.

Fine fescue would be my choice for shade

I've been pondering my lawn for a couple of years now. Do I dethatch, aerate, overseed, and dispatch enough chemicals to kill half of Europe so that my grass is pretty and I have to mow it twice as often? I'm leaning towards a couple acres of wildflowers in the back, a few dozen tons of decorative gravel for around the trees, some areas of nice ground cover, and maybe leave about an acre of actual lawn. We already have a small orchard, some expanding blueberry/raspberry/blackberry/elderberry patches, a couple of hoop trellis gardens, and considering some more garden beds along with the flower beds. I actually like to mow but prefer the lower maintenance.

I put a rye fescue kbg mix overseed dwn. It sucks waiting 3 weeks for the kbg to come up. Should i just mow after 3 weeks and pray for the bluegrass?
@TheLawnWhisperer Жыл бұрын
Bluegrass should be up by 3 weeks if you’ve been keeping it watered. Todays cultivars if bluegrass usually pop in 6-10 days

My feet don’t get sweaty on them, I thought the opposite! I’ve been wearing them during aeration and overseeding walking over 20k steps and I feel great!

Go see how easy it is to stick a screw driver down into your lawn. If it goes in easy, your lawn is not compacted

I have a question. I've got predominantly KBG and perennial rye but have had it overseeded with TTTF and didn't know it. I hate that it's thick bladed and really doesn't blend very well with the types I have. Is there another type of TTTF that blends better or better yet something I can apply to wipe it out besides glyphosate?
@TheLawnWhisperer Жыл бұрын
There’s nothing that you can apply other than glyphosate and kill it all to start over unfortunately
