This is the first synth pop band I have ever actually enjoyed the hell out of. Normally I’m a rock guy, but Lauren’s voice is one of a kind, her lyrics are special, the synths are fantastic, hell even Martin has a cool voice too. Also, Lauren is a drummer, and used to be a drummer for a rock band 😎 She’s so talented

They're running samples through Ableton Live on a Macbook connected to a digital interface, the most affordable setup for electronic music. Nowadays they play with real vintage synthesizers. But I what find interesting is that anyone can make music with a cheap interface and a few samples downloaded from the internet, but few people have the talent to make good music like these guys and a few other bands.

Now 11 years ago. I went to see them directly as a result of watching this video 11 years ago. At a medium sized venue in Manchester, where they were the first of two support acts and maybe only around 300 people in the room at the time (I didn't even stay to watch the main act) - look at where they are now. Amazing!

Wonderful presence, emotional music and that certain something you can't describe but absolutely love. This music is timeless and classy. I'd like to see them play with Operator Please and Dragonette one day. This sound is just so sweet, it gracefully dances the gap between my childhood music and what I listen to now. Lauren has a beautiful vulnerable voice and an amazing style, I really enjoy the arms only exposed and high neck-line. This band shall go far, I hereby call it so!

In 2019, I'm loving this throwback of Chvrches. I'm happy for them and their success today, but I really miss this raw and honest version of them...Before the need put on a live spectacle for huge festival audiences, when they didn't need a live drummer who really doesn't add anything to their sound, just takes away from their core chemistry. Lauren cynical introduction here is priceless
