@@harrimanfox8961 a scavenge blower is not considered forced induction. The engine is incapable of running without it and it does not provide “boost”. Detroit’s are NA until a turbo is added.

That's completely incorrect. The powerband of a uniflow diesel is WIDER than that of a 4 stroke engine. They didn't do a pull down test in this vid to show. For example a 15 litre class 4 stroke diesel engine might have a spread of torque about 300rpm wide say from 1100 -1400rpm. A Detroit Diesel 2 stroke although usually much less than a 4 stroke in torque production actually has a torque band from 750rpm to 1600rpm. Think about why. It's because there's double the strokes. Aspiration isn't dependent on a decreasing crankcase volume like a gas 2 stroke engine. A roots type blower supplies constant aspiration that is sized to the requirements of the engine at all RPM. The operation of them is different to a bike motor..

Definitely not, not for what this engine is, this is pretty damn healthy for a naturally aspirated 6V53 diesel.... plus, these engines weren't known to be monsters, they're old school 2 strokes, they sound absolutely phenomenal and they love living at high revs, throw a turbo or two on this build and it would absolutely scream.... I'd love this for my K2500 😅
