This isn’t exactly downtown that begins the video…the abandonment of old industrial factories that used to want riverfront access is a few blocks from the river on the east side towards Belle Isle. As you go further you have shown a lot of progress to cleaning up this entire area along the Riverwalk and the Dequindre Cut. All redevelopment is not happening downtown but has gradually spread along the major arteries.

It’s not so much the city that isn’t doing anything about those abandoned buildings. It’s more of the people that own those buildings, and same with the surface parking lots. They don’t won’t to sell.

You are so right on!! The City of Detroit does NOT own all or have the right to all of the vacant buildings or old factories that is near or around the riverfront. Some do have owners and are old hold outs looking for the right development that may come their way for the right price.

I wish people stop using "abandoned" in reference to the old industrial buildings. You can not established that without knowing who owns the building.

Just because a building is vacant does not mean it is “abandoned.” Many of the buildings do have owners and some are in the process of being renovated or sold out right to investors for redevelopment. And there are real estate websites where some of these buildings are advertised for sale. Stop loosely describing the buildings as abandoned when the legal status has not been determined by looking at them from the outside.

Worst tour ever. You didn't give us a clue of what street you were on or what area. You were never downtown but on the edge of town in Foxtown. You also need to know the difference between and abandoned house and a defunct factory. Know your stuff before you start.
