On my 12.7 I paid 21000 for OEM parts rebuild and later found out that it was esco parts it would not pass compression test after 280,000 miles I had to have it rebuilt again and everything was esco . It was junk!! I watched the next shop rebuild my engine and it was all OEM parts, so far it has 754,000 and still running fine , in fact I bought a glider and pulled the engine and trans at 385,000 and put it in the new glider !

I’ve seen people put 4 aftermarket kits in my life one was esco for a series 60 12.7 and 1 year later it wouldn’t pass emissions cuz the piston rings wore out. The next one was a interstate McGee for the same engine and 4 years later still strong. The other one was for a Dd15 and the main bearings wouldn’t go in we got oem bearings and the engine turned like butter. The last one was a lie for a 3406e cat that one has no issues so far.

Most parts come from companies that makes those components parts. In a lot of cases for example Pai kits for the Cummins N14 engine came in the same packaging as the Cummins packaging. The only difference was the cummins had there stamp on their parts and on the box and Pai didn't but you could tell from the packaging that both of the kits came from the same manufacturer that make heavy duty truck engine parts. So most parts manufacturers makes part kits for OEM and aftermarket companies.

We used PIA and McBee and have had good luck with both. The PIA rings seam to seat better than the McBee but longevity if you used the correct antifreeze and use only distilled water is to me is the same as oem with exception of the liners. The aftermarket liners will deteriorate at a faster pace than the OEM if you do not adhere to the distilled water and correct antifreeze. We had a guy we rebuilt his engine and used hose water and regular antifreeze and it ate holes in the liners at about 350k.

Hey Francisco I hope all is well with you and your family, who do you recommend to buy a reliable freightliner with a DD15 13 speed Manual, from a truck sales company or dealer? This will be my first truck

Dealer with around 300,000, the one box starts to give problems, at 500,000 miles that part cost over 11,000 with labor.

You cannot put all aftermarket companies in the same basket. Every company is different. There are very high quality aftermarket engine parts manufacturers. There are two different OE suppliers of bearings for the DD15. First it was Miba and now it’s federal mogul. You think they don’t supply the aftermarket as well? They do. Oem is not always better in quality than the aftermarket. In fact, there are aftermarket engine parts that are higher quality than some oem’s. It’s also inaccurate to keep calling the ESCO parts In this video “the aftermarket”. Just say ESCO. NOT ALL AFTERMARKET COMPANIES ARE THE SAME!
@franciscoamayaYT3 жыл бұрын
You are right, there is some aftermarket companies selling equal or higher quality products than OEMs at lower cost. There is always a side of the story, we must pick the one we trust the most.

@@franciscoamayaYT Hi man! Watched many your videos and thank you for all you do! I heard DD engines do not last too long after rebuild. What is your experience with that? How long these engines may live after rebuild? Thanks!
@СтепанБандера-ы8у3 жыл бұрын
Dd15 is Mercedes and it’s European specific engines with very high tolerance internationally with their design they are not mods friendly engines like Cummins, cat, s60 and more so it’s totally different animal then other manufacturers all the oem parts are made very specifically for that engine. If you ever worked on diferent European manufacturing vehicles there’s usually no better quality from aftermarket parts then oem of course if not modifing and tuning then you do have alot of high quality Euro aftermarket parts. so Francisco is right and you are wrong.
