Most of the time it a 3tech NT that lines up next to hitch. This is just the first time we will have a true nose

Reeder & McNeil were both ranked in the top 10 dts last year. They gone clog the middle and force everything towards the edges. Same way Suh & Fairly helped Ansah get 12 sacks but he was garbage when they left.

2014 def was 2nd in total def. The front four was Jones, Suh, Fairley, Ansah. The LB's were Tulloch, Levy and Whitehead. Our Outside DB's were Slay and Mathis. The Safeties were Quinn and Ihedibo.

You forgot to mention Josh Pascal. What would you consider him? I think our defense will finish around 8'10. Imagine if we played a real 4-3 defense(we start 2LBs) and had Houston at OLB rushing 5 with Davenport. The opposing offensive line couldn't double team anybody. We can do that on some plays now that we have a lock down corner and whoever's gonna win CB2.

I believe that with Reader and our existing players. The Lions Defense will improve immensely !!! And here is a thought--- take G. Manu (spelling?) from offence and throw his 350lb. 6'-8" 4.6sec for the 40 into the defensive mix!!! Just think about it....lolololol

It's not just Reader. It's everything they did that will raise the overall defense. It's language, you need to read and comprehend. I think top 15 is entirely fair. It's a team game and when the secondary is better, the line and linebackers are better. Some of the LB are coming into the years where they actually show tgeir stuff. They have guys coming back off injuries. The value of rotating a bunch of pretty good players through over having one good player is really undervalued. Marcus Davenport adds to that also. Reader demands a double, that absolutely makes everyone else better, it's simple numbers.

i believe that the lions will have a top 10, maybe even a top 5 dline next year , the addition of dj reader , a true NT will make that happen. they run a 4-3 defense , Alim McNeill was already great last year , lining up dj reader next to him would create chaos for the opposing o line. Combined with hutch and Davenport coming from the edges its gonna be a fun season to watch. And in a worst case scenario if Mcneill or reader gets hurt having one of them will keep their dline solid enough to go deep in the playoffs next year

If Reader can be solid Davis and the rookie db’s deliver like we hope Anzalone maintains his solid play and Campbell grows at linebacker … and I know that is a lot of ifs but I don’t think any of them are a stretch we could be very much improved they don’t have to be the 85 Bears they just have to take some heat off the offense

I think Hutch gets 15+, Reader gets 5, blitzers get 10+, Betts gets 7.5, Davenport gets 9 or 10, Alim gets 10, and the combination of Paschal, the Commish, and the LBs get about 10-12. So, we could be looking at a 60+ sack season!!!!

I think 30 sacks from the d line is achievable. Hutch can get 15 just by converting more pressures. McNeil can get around 5. Reader 2or 3. Houston 5. 2 or 3 from the rest of the crew.

Reader is the perfect fit for Paschal to do his thing. I sincerely believe that the Lions additions are probably going to open the path. The Lions have a solid group of players to rotate. They can adjust to any offensive line out there.

Do you think this is attainable? Sacks by committee. Hutch - 15 sacks Pascal - 3 sacks Davenport - 6 sacks Houston - 5 sacks Reader - 1 sack McNeil - 6 sacks Cominsky - 3 sacks Betts - 1 sacks Wingo - 1 sacks 41 Total from D Line.

I see some inaccurate comments about the expectations of Josh Pascal this season. Josh Pascal has never been an impact edge rusher in college he only had one season with 5 sacks and 13 his entire college career. In college they used him as 3 tech and 5 tech , that's where he excels at , he is too slow and lacks the speed and explosiveness rush from the outside.I wish people would learn football , and understand the different roles of the players.

well great you stood up and swallowed that crow. you were all down on him. you need to read less stats and watch more tape before doing your vids..... if reader is healthy the Dline is killer. move away from sacks and concentrate on pressures. do they have a stat on time for QB to release on pass plays. if there is an average for the yr per defense, would be interesting to see if this time goes down.
