Thank you Jake for coming on this podcast and sharing. I remember telling my wife how proud I was to have you as the Lions kicker because of what you said about not being there to make or miss kicks but to glorify Jesus with the platform He gave you. Many players say they believe in God but not many of them actually display it with such courage as to name the name of Jesus!

As a Lion fan I am very grateful to have Jake kicking for us. The Lions have been historically bad over the years but during those lean years we had great place kickers. From 1980-2012 Eddie Murray and Jason Hanson were the guys, two of the all-time best. We had a couple lean years before signing Matt Prater who held the job for seven years, then we went back to having a shaky kicking game. Now we have Jake, and this kid has got a leg. He's also got a great story and one thing about Detroit sports fans, we get behind unsung heroes and players with great back stories. I mean we made a stink when the long-snapper got cut and when the Zamboni driver for the Wings got fired. Jake fits right in. The local sports writers were printing stories about him struggling in practice during camp but the kid was making every kick in the preseason games. That's what mattered to me. I was sick of weak legged kickers you worried about outside of 45 yards. Jake has got it and he fits right in on Coach's island of misfit toys. Great testimony as well (Psalm 145). Keep it up kid and the city will love ya for life.

I will say, I don't have an almighty power in my life, but I respect people that believe in it. Great interview. I'm surprised I actually stuck through it all. Truthfully I only did for Legatron lol
