Man, just the shit you see rolling thru, let alone actually being out and about. Those were also the days before internet and GPS. Back in the 50s and early 60s Detroit was a manufacturing powerhouse and one of the wealthiest cities in the US. Lyndon Johnson's 'Great Society' and the election of Detroit Mayor Coleman Young in 1973 secured the out-of-control Democrat Party liberalism that resulted in the demise of Detroit and too many other big US cities.

My brother lived in Bloomfield Hills. His youngest son was 13 and began being rebellious. He took the kid into Detroit one night. Into the old neighborhood we lived in back in the day. After stopping the car he told the kid to get out and make his own way back home. He said if he didn't get his act together that is where he would end up, and he might as well learn how to survive there now. The kid was scared straight right then and there. He graduated college and has a fine career now. All of those young black males out hanging in the streets at night, should have a father like my five nephews have. Not one in a thousand has a good future. And that is why Detroit has no future. Get the f*^k out of there kids. It's a big world and not easy, but you can do it. I did. RIP Detroit.

As someone who has always been acutely aware that there are over 7 billion people living in this planet, all experiencing this world in a completely different and unique way, videos like this one captivate me. From some one who grew up in Detroit, and still lives in the greater Detroit area. I am white male. My reactions. The video shows the good, the bad & the ugly of Detroit. We still have many neighborhoods that need to be improved. Houses need to either be rebuilt or torn down. It looked worst a few years ago. It is getting better. Some places in downtown Detroit are safer than the suburbs. Running away now, means running into new problems, sometimes. There are fewer of us here now. It just means we like to live here. A lot of people moved to other parts of the country. A lot of them to Chicago to look for work. Another city with its own set of problems. Traveling through the city has its moments to be proud and sad. Angry and happy.
@aquamoor31455 жыл бұрын
That like any City The good and the bad.Whenever I travel I go to the hood. When I went to New Orleans I was in shock. Where does the money go? Its allocated to other towns. You know your people need their baseball fields and football stadiums. Deals are cut behind closed doors and some neighbors go without.

i never lived in detroit proper, but idk there's something nostalgic about black neighborhoods for me. All the people on the street and like, how alive the neighborhood is, especially at night.
