This week on American Black Journal: A new book by historian and New York Times bestselling author Jemar Tisby tells the untold stories of Black activists in the fight against racism.
Host Stephen Henderson talks with Tisby about his book, “The Spirit of Justice: True Stories of Faith, Race and Resistance,” and the connection between Black activism and the Black church.
Plus, September is Black Reading Month! Henderson talks with the co-founder of the annual observance, Malik Yakini, about why he helped create it 45 years ago.
They also discuss literacy issues and offer some book recommendations.
