Your review of Guyver Dark Hero was easily the best out of many that I've watched. I definitely will check out more of your content. The only thing that I noticed that many people do not mention is that the stunt choreographer is Koichi Sakamoto. He was the main stunt choreographer for MMPR Season 2 all the way to RPM. That is why the fights and stunts in this film look so familiar. He has gone on to do many Ultraman projects, Space Sheriff Next Generation, Kamen Rider and Sentai in japan. I would love to see you do reviews on any of those films or series at some point.

Guyver is one of the BEST manga heroes, period. They even went and copied his schtick to make the Jaime Reyes version of Blue Beetle. Too bad Takaya-sensei works at the pace of glacial movement, but with his art style, it's to be expected, even welcomed. Also I hear the man is kind of sick, like physically. I'm of the mind if I could I'd give him my remaining years and (admittedly somewhat better but also crap) health just so he could make more Guyver manga.

I'd argue that he doesn't use the chest cannon more often not only in that it does use a huge amount of energy but is also akin to a Gatling Gun. In that you probably could just shoot off one bullet here and there. But if you're gonna use it, you want to make sure the target is dead dead. Also unless you know damn well you can shoot off just one bullet with precise control, you're gonna end up excavating everything with it.

Nice review of a fun movie. If you're confused about the mega smasher not being used much, just think of this one: his head laser can literally be used like a machine gun, but he barely EVER uses it. And it sure as heck isn't as dangerous to use as the mega smasher. So, probably down to 'I just don't think to use it much', at a guess.

In the opening scene, why were the crooks breaking in to steal the dolls? If they were the dealers then surely they or their dummy corporation is recipient on record. Just go pick them up. The whole point of doing this is to avoid any overt criminal activity that would raise suspicion. And why do you need a dozen guys for one security guard? Also, did the Guyver leave an explanation for all this? Imagine being the detectives showing up to investigate. Would they even think to ask for a chemical analysis of the dolls?

well the choreography for the final fight doesn't look goofy because who ever directed it knew how to use elbow strikes from martial arts, as you said, this film has a more martial arts choreographic background and therefore it makes sense that their able to get the strikes correct, even the move guyver unit one uses against the gangster in the first part of the film, is a legit move in martial arts, when striking soft parts of the body with your elbow you get in close and you hammer it in using primarily the upper half of your fore arm, cuz trying to punch straight with an elbow, while possible, is difficult an theirs less a chance of pressing in on the soft flesh and hitting a vital organ beneath with blunt trauma, i've taken martial arts in the past, and while i'm sorely out of practice, you don't tend to forget this stuff that easily, good review though, glad to see someone doing a nice review of the second film i really love the guyver series

In terms of the manga I believe humans are the bases for Zoanoids. Humans can't become one until they've gone through a zoafication process. So she wouldn't be able to transform without going through it too. And 1 problem I had with the movie, was that the insides weren't highly acidic and opened immediately for Unit 01. I understand they had to cut it short because movie, but I'd have like to see that done to some regard. Like the door opens and a Chronos operative walks in and gets sprayed with a highly lethal acid. And honestly, even though we only see the 2 units, it's actually Unit 03. Unit 02 has 2 blades per arm. In the series, 03's the one that's damaged. And while I loved the review, I'm a bigger fan of the campy first one. But I hope you'll go through the anime's too. Maybe a collab with an ani-tuber. Or maybe the Devilman movie.

I have a feeling the love interest part was taken out in the UK version possibly due to some runtime requirements. I notice this movie is 120mins, but the UK version is 95 which is closer to a lot of movie runtimes back then. So was probably easier just to cut the whole love interest part. Not entirely sure. Just speculating. Personally, I always hate the love interest parts. So I didn't feel like I missed anything first time watching. I usually find it detracts from the main story line and I'd rather see a character more fleshed out where you understand their moral beliefs. When I see a movie that is heavy with a love interest and the protagonist risk their life for the them because of "love", even though they've only known them for a few days, my instant reaction is "oh f**k off!".
