Why so many dislikes? His performance was insightful, exciting, and technically flawless (as always). The cinematography might unsettle more conservative viewers, but I found it refreshing to see something different to the usual piano video. KZbin is an audio-visual medium after all, so it's great to see the latter component given some real consideration.
@melieprotat50346 жыл бұрын
francisco malaca The thing is, this is his interpretation. He wants you to feel everything he plays and make you dream the story he imagines. The way a piece of music like this differs from one to the other is the authenticity- the interpretation. You can imagine whatever you want when you hear the piece but don't take away his right to interpret it his own way.

You may be right, gdmoore. I find it bizarre that Trifonov (one of my favourite present-day pianists), having collaborated with an imaginative filmographer, should have such an unfavourable likes:dislikes ratio.
@kekszakallusplumber40916 жыл бұрын
Because the video is cloying and self-conscious. Don't smear the people who dislike the direction as 'conservative.' I love inventive music videos. This was a miss. Sorry.
@kekszakallusplumber40916 жыл бұрын
Luke Faulkner Again, don't presume that the people who dislike the video aren't A) fans of Trifonov and/or B) fans of adventurous classical music - videos. Daniil Trifonov is an awesome pianist. I cannot imagine anyone playing this pieces as brilliantly as he does here. Every note is crystal clear. BUT WHEN are video-makers going to realise that when a virtuoso piece is being played, one of the great pleasures for piano-lovers is to see the fingers at work??? This video was so frustrating because it made the music seem like a mere background to the rather muddled dramatics. It makes me wonder whether video producers are genuine piano-lovers at all! One of my most favourite interpretations of this piece, full of creativity and colour! This recording was crucial in my study of this piece. I would have not been able to record this piece on my KZbin channel without the help of this recording. Thank you for sharing Deutsche Grammphon.

Trifonov plays this piece brilliantly. He isn’t rigid in keeping the time which gives this piece much more life in my opinion The 4:3 polyrhythm that is employed in this piece is very difficult to master. But the way he alters the tempo in different parts of the piece to me, really brings life to it in a new way. Also, the way this video was shot was brilliant. It really tells a story. I too, am amazed at the amount of dislikes for this performance, because this pianist plays this piece flawlessly..

A few young artists out there are bringing great music to young people with videos like this one. In this ad for the new release Iove the scenario, the little "acting" (looking around to see the place is safe) at the beginning, the scenic fun. Thoughtful, evocative playing. It's also something to watch this young man grow up physically since in the public eye. All that is minor, though. The musicianship is remarkable, the technique awesome, the heart getting greater by the day.

I am the young and I disagree. I do not like Chopin for the crazy jump shots. That is not what Chopin is about.

Soundtrack to a dream. This has the qualities of an anthem, perhaps to humanity and the struggles we endure. What would life be without music; what would it be without Chopin? This is what it means to be immortal. Chopin was God's gift to the world, among many.
