Mike, it sure sounds as solid as it's built. Nice job figuring out the timing and the rest of the engine as well. I can't wait to see the final video!

Hi mate. That is a very nice unit. Deutz is a very well regarded brand in Europe. Often more for tractors and trucks.

many do not have timing belts. These are had to start when cold and loud. Have them on man lifts etc. Two cyl ones vibrate bad.

That seems to be a nice motor. I think diesels are the best motors. They last and last.

man i love generators. Want to find a large gen I could use to power my parents home. Junkyards have such wonderful things if you can find them. Tuesday at my junkyard there was a old Lincon welder genny. It looked like it has a 3 or 4 cyl motor..I should of picked it up cause the next day it was smashed right infront of me..I should of picked up the wisconsen AENL engine as well..I regert not picking it up..

Nice demo on use of pins set. The ford Ztech 4 cylinder uses a specialty pin for locking crank, but cams lock with a piece of flat stock on ends. There is slots milled on ends offset of center on cams, so only line up 1 way. Flat stock was easy to come by, it sucks to buy something for 1 use, or not common to other engines. I guess saying tool cost over lay or is with matters.

I love the idea of deutz engines and have used them for years in large air compressors. the only thing I hate about them is that dang timing belt. do all deutz engines have timing belts. I know that my two and three bangers do. do the bigger ones?

Hi mates. I have compressor with same engine. It starts running noiser and after while shut down. Can't start it again. Any ideas what it can be?
@mack1ford10 жыл бұрын
i know the new deutz use a hydrolic fan belt tensioner with a shutdown and if the belt breaks or gets to long it shutsdown i thought that was cool

Todd I was wondering if you can help me out. I have a small homemade workshop compressor that I built myself with a Deutz F2l 1011 (looks very similar to the one your working on here, bar fact its a 2 cyl and painted blue - not red.) the engne runs a massive Broomwade RM41 Pump upon a huge 250Ltr air receiver. Problem I have is when I bought the deutz engine we seen it running (Sweet) and then we had to tear it out of the Bobcat it came from. then we travelled 400miles with it in the back of the van, to which it got out of its straps and tipped over (oil everywhere out the air intake). so anyway we fitted the motor to the tank and air pump and set it up with some basic wiring. simply to latch the fuel solenoid open and then to a switch to activate the starter motor. it fired up initialy but the throttle would rev the engine and the stop lever wouldn't stop it. It simply plugged along and hitty missy type revs for a few seconds then stalled, since then it has been a total fail to start it. The oil level is fine, the solenoid is latching by the sounds of the click and its turning over fine, but not starting. Only other thing I did was to open the nut at the top of each injector high pressure copper pipe and turn it over until fuel came out to eliminate any air lock in fuel line. Also I have completely bypassed the lift pump, the fuel filter and proceeded to gravity feed the fuel from a 5gallon drum 1/4tr full of diesel from a high above the engine itself. I did this to bypass any potential problem until I get it started at least, then I will introduce the filter and pump back one at a time into the fuel line once I know I have it running. I have no other electrics wired up, I have two thin wires coming from the fan alternator going nowhere and to my knowledge just a oil pressure sensor with a wire that isn't connected anywhere. that's as much info as I have 4 now mate. what am I missing mate, can you help?

@beckywatt50484 жыл бұрын
Timing belts and diesels don't mix , worse than oil and water , 99.9999% of people are too lazy, escort diesels , Chevy/Izuzu , Pugeut ,etc
