Are you able to explain how the diagonal lighting on the wall is done? You can see it at 2:06.

Yes. Its an old trick involving having a sloped sector on the sides. The floor and ceiling are at same height and the slope is where the shadow line will be. Usually shading a wall shades both bottom and upper walls at the same time, but separating the upper and bottom texture with the 2 key, you can shade them separately. So one is dark and the other is lighter.
