I'll share a little secret. In this way, you will be able to lock targets 25 km away using helmet-mounted display mode. You can lock on a target using the HMD IRST and from the IR lock you can switch to the radar lock 🤓

AFAIK, that is how it actually works IRL. There should not be a 10 km limit for Radar HMD, only for the ACM

This strategy can still be used, but it will always be good to have chaffs available, since the Fox 3s hit a little lower than the Fox 1s

Ok I have a big question: This new update, is it not officially out yet? Because no matter how many times I manually check for updates it just won't find it. I cant find these new planes (the Su27SM,Mig21Bison,F-15C) in their respective tech trees. Any advice is appreciated.

It is only on the dev server, so the update is not actually out but you can still play/test the planes without any progress being counted.

Yes, that's quite annoying, and it will be more frequent with the Fox-3s if it continues like this. The missiles just take too long to activate; it's like playing with the Mirage's 530D

I've found that having the lock button bound and using it instead of the launch button to activate the seeker eliminates this problem but you need two buttons to fire your missile instead of just pushing one now

To make the sharp turn, faster...And sometimes because the poor thing doesn't detect the heat from the thrusters This gives you the chance to dodge the missiles (by heat)

Exactly, despite the FOX-3s on the new J-11, it's literally the same thing. I wish Gaijin had introduced a J-11B right away so that China could feel a real upgrade in the lineup, but it seems it will have to wait for another patch.

Those are not FOX-3 missiles. Just ordinary missiles like R-27ER.

R-77 seems like to have a greater distance of explosion and wider radius of shrapnel than R-27, like fox-3 missile should have. R-27 seems to track target inertially even without radar slaving, so it looks similar to R-77 - but with less precision when not guided and less distance when it hits. For AIM-7... it has self destruction, when it lose a radar guidance, so AIM-120 is a great improvement.

This is wild. When is USA gunna get equal IR missiles. We get our fancy stealth missile but that thing is easily flared away. Russia gets r73’s at top tier. And even the mig23’s get r24t’s like chill out on the bias. If you wanted to give us realism then we’d have f-16’s while Russia only has mig 21’s
