500ml is the normal bottle size sold in Germany, they come in crates of 20. You either get 20x 500ml or 24x 330ml here. I think the 660ml are specifically for the UK market

It's probably cheaper for them to just get a bigger bunch of 500 ml bottles, than a big bunch of 500 ml bottles and a small bunch of 660 ml bottles only for the UK market.

Update for you - I just bought a couple of Krombachers in Tesco today (30/05/24) in 660ml bottles at £2:50 each. Yes, a fortnight ago in Morrisons they were in 500ml bottles (on a "deal" - all their German beer was £2:20 that day, including the 660ml Warsteiner).. How Tesco is still getting the bigger bottles is a mystery indeed.

Krombacher in Germany was always 500 ml with 4,8 %ABV. Although you can get a 3 l Magnum bottle, but it's not easy to find.

Lived over there where Krombacher was the main local pils and usually the most common. Never saw a 660ml bottle, only 500ml. bottles and tins, 330ml bottles occasionally and 5ltr mini kegs. As others say, the 660ml is probably just for the British and Irish markets as we tend to buy smaller amounts rather than a crate or two of 20 x 500ml bottles?

Iv resorted to finding a decent Eastern European shop and getting my beer from them. You get some fantastic imported Lagers that havent been messed about with or bought out by Inbev so arent watered down for the English market.

In August before Rishi Sunak's alcohol tax a bottle of 660ml of this cost £1.77 in Morrisons, then they jacked the price up to £2.50 and reduced the volume of the beer to 500ml. I've never shopped in Morrisons since then in disgust.

For all concerned the cheapest I found for Krombacher post-tax was Majestic Wine, you can get a crate of 12 for £24 which is still overpriced for the alcohol content but way cheaper per beer than the rip-off supermarkets. If you live in Wales and England Majestic also offer like bonus sort of discounts etc although I am not sure it applies to beer as it is a wine retailer. Why is it we need to go to shops like this for cheapest deal? They are taking the mickey out of us proper beer drinkers.

Majestic have always sold krombacher in boxes of 12x 500ml. The supermarkets have sold it individually in 660ml bottles usually as part of a multi buy deal.

They still do the 660ml in Tesco and if you compare their deal of 3 for £6 @1980ml against Morrisons 4 for £6.60 @2000ml Tesco is marginally better value.

500ml bottles of Krombacher have been available in the UK for at least 10 years. Used to be available in Wetherspoons (not sure if they still sell it) and I've seen them in some shops. It will be a great shame if the 660ml bottles disappear completely in favour of the smaller ones

Now, im not saying this is definite but ive noticed as work around supermarkets, morrisons have smaller bottles of tyskie and menebrea (500ml) but asda has both still in the 660mls so may be still availble elsewhere in the bigger bottles.

My local Tesco still has 660ml bottles of Krombacher. I don't expect them to end this. I don't mind 500ml bottles so long as the price reflects the smaller size. If Morrisons are still charging the same as for 660ml then thats wrong. Main thing is that its genuine German imported lager and not a "fake" Uk brewed swill! I get the 500ml Paulaner from Tesco and its a bit more expensive. I suspect Morrisons couldn't get a good deal on the larger bottles, or there was a shortage, which are for export only. In Germany you don't get 660ml bottles only 500ml or 330ml.

I love Krombacher. Here in Cyprus it's only sold in 500 or 330 bottles. I've only seen the 660 in the UK. The main thing is they haven't messed around with the beer, you're still getting a great beer, just 160 mil less 😂

I'd like to think for some strange reason that Morrisons are buying in the 500mls bottle and only charging the same as Tesco because they think it's just as competitive. Maybe when Tesco do get the new bottles, if ever, they will charge much less for it. Time will tell, meanwhile fill your boots (or garages).

I'm sorry but I have done frequent flights from Frankfurt to Toronto where this was the only beer given out (admittedly in plastic glasses). I found it undrinkable...probably after a month of choice Bavarian Weissbiers....it still makes my skin shudder...but maybe you need to be immersed in Weissbier to feel that...if it's good enough for Lufthansa...you know it stinks!!!!

I`ve been drinking Krombacher for years & I`ve never seen the 660ml bottle, in fact the only German I`ve seen in that size has been Warsteiner. Regardless of size Krombacher is terrific & I hope they never change it`s quality or it`s ABV like so many UK mainstream brewers have been doing for years. So many UK food & drink suppliers are cheating their customers, you know things like smaller items for same or more money, chocolate bars that have become no more than fingers with a super-fine spray of chocolate coating, sure things have gone up but don`t they enjoy taking advantage of situations to maximise profit at the expense of their customer base?! I`m very careful these days in what I buy & I stay clear of companies that blatently take the p$£s.

Incidentally, I bought a shit ton of Clwb Tropica on their Black Friday promo and collected from TR brewery bar in Newport. They were 5.5% abv. Went to my local Sainsbury’s recently noticed the Clwb Tropica they were selling was 5%! So something’s going on there too. We’re being slowly shafted. 😠
