We dive deep into the NHRA Pro Stock Motorcycle class to further examine controversial domination by team Vance & Hines that is now killing participation in the class as the once thriving motorcycle drag racing class dips down to just 12 entries, with team Matt Smith Racing brining 5 bikes. In this video we will take you to Virginia Motorsports Park as Vance & Hines Pro Stock Motorcycle racer Gaige Herrera tries to surpass Bob Glidden’s longstanding NHRA win streak, we explore racers quitting the class including Cory Reed, Joey Gladstone, “Flyin” Ryan Oehler, and the sudden departure of Vance & Hines rental customer LE Tonglet and we also head to the NHRA National Event at Summit Motorsports Park in Norwalk, Ohio where we show you a full session of Pro Stock Motorcycle qualifying and Matt Smith accuses his rival Vance & Hines team of sandbagging and manipulation. Things get worse for the Pro Stock Bike class as many racers talk about not traveling West. It’s an issue that even got the attention of Terry Vance. As the NHRA Seattle race comes to pass the Pro Stock Motorcycle class is down to an alarming 12 entries, marking the 4th consecutive race the class has failed to get a full field. Let us know what you think can be done to even the playing field, bring cost down and improve participation to save Pro Stock Motorcycle #motorcycles #motorcycle #dragracing #nhra

It a double whammy. Putting a team together with all the tour costs involved + funding of 1-2 million dollars per season is one thing.. THEN getting Beat every weekend by a massive company that has all the resources in the world is another. Its unreal what MSR has accomplished all these years . Terry Vance is asking what can be done to fix the class. What a joke...He knows exactly what's been going on .

You can thank Jack for that he is the one that got everyone protesting to give Suzuki 4v per cylinder head... Back when the engineers at NHRA had just gotten the v twins and the in line 4 balanced out for both to run 6.7 sec quarter mile ... That when Jack started complaining about the displacement when both engines were flowing the same amount of air and burning the same amount of fuel . .and if it was not for Andrew Hines cutting almost perfect lights most of the time. Harley would not have got all the hole shots ... And Suzuki would have won more races.... When Eddie krawiec raced both Harley and Suzuki got the hole shot same ..the Harley would take the Suzuki through 2/3 of the track and then run out of steam then the Suzuki started to come on hard to a photo finish every time .but not anymore thanks to jack sticking his nose where it doesn't belong

There were almost NO speed shops or performance lines. We had to machine our own engine cases, and built up our own 4 v heads, and straight cut no dog gearsets... Or buy used Yoshimura and pre Mugan sand castings from some overseas team and rebuild for mountains of cash. My 1978ish honda CB750 i built 1984 to a 903cc Yoshi clone was literally only about 10% original left. Even the frame was custom. the crank was Yoshi billet, rods, pins Yoshi Ti. Heads yoshi cylinders, custom from me.And a crapton of old F1 worn out parts from bosses stash. mechanical methanol system from//something F1 or hillclimb. It literally took me what would have been 40-50 thousand in parts and after hours machining time i spent to build that bike. And Now Any Kawi H bike can walk away bone stock... Maybe make it a "spec" series in which the engines are supplied by one or two manufacturers that aren't associated with any of the teams. The problem is that I can't imagine that there are many companies not named Vance & Hines that are willing or able to supply engines for 15+ bikes to compete at this level for a whole season. Maybe I'm wrong though. Part of the problem is that few (if any) others have the money and resources that V&H has. I used to work at the race shop in Brownsburg and the amount of Engineering, dev time, machining time, tuning, etc. that went into the 4v Suzuki engine was impressive. MSR is probably their closest competitor and his shop is a fraction of the size of the V&H shop. With the money, name, sponsorships, etc. that they have theres only so much that can be done.

All that said, NHRA has GOT to do something to make Pro Stock REAL again, & Vance & Hines is NOT playing fair. They've got the market cornered, they've got a monopoly on parts, equipment, & Nobody else can compete. And this AIN'T like back in th' day, when it was WINSTON/NHRA DRAG RACING. No Question about the Incredible Talent that Herrera has . But it's not fair at all. Vance and Hines are destroying pro stock bike. If V&H provided the same engines to All the league it would be fair for me. So All Suzuki Drivers have the same gear so the little performance tricks of the individual teams would make the difference. But how come NHRA allows that? Another thing, NHRA should consider a certain type of engine for the class for next season. It's My humble comment but I know that is not easy because of the brand's individual engineering I think I would be cool but the same engine type for all bikes would be fair

i've been a drag racer on motorcycle since I was 15 I'm now 71 I watched the growth and the decrepitude both. I knew this was going to happen and I predicted it 10 years ago that these were not Suzuki's and these were not Harleys these are custom built motorcycles and I don't care what engine you have in that chassis it was going to come to this no matter what and to tell you the truth people could care less because they can't buy this motorcycle and they can't ride it do you remember when it was race on Sunday sell on Monday well the motorcycle industry needs to get back to that make the motorcycle industry make better motorcycles. they need to start racing motorcycles that people can buy and want to ride I can tell you that a bike that runs the sevens or a bike that runs 11s are no different when it comes to consistency you wanna see that double .00 light that's what we're there for all this backstabbing and factory crap just sucks and you're never gonna put an into it because that's how the business operates do you know how many people would show up if you could buy a stock motorcycle put a super tune in it and go racing at the NHRA events there would be big races every Sunday and you wouldn't have to bribe people to ride the bikes. sorry about the speech to text it's not very good but I will say I could go on for an hour about this and I believe I have the experience in the industry to speak my peace I was at the drag race event for motorcycles at Fremont Raceway in California and I had been racing for 10 years previous to that tells you how long I've been doing it we need to boot the idea that a super built motorcycle is what people want to see race it is not pro stock superstock those are just terms used by the industry and NHRA which is losing viewers as the years go by how many teams are in the nitro class now also when you call something the nitro Harley races that's crap it should be nitro bike and anyone with a nitro bike should be able to come and participate like they do in Australia where they draw massive crowds.ok i've said enough

If I was V&H, and I leased equipment, I would tune the equipment the same way as your “main” bike. Why? Because technically if the equipment you lease wins, it’s on a V&H bike. You still “win.” Your name is still out there. “I’d like to thank Vance and Hines for giving me the equipment to get the job done!” Good for business in my eyes. You won’t have the entire division pointing a double shotgun at you like they do now. V&H may not care, but if they keep it up, there may not be a division at all anymore.

I think for the class to be fair they need to do what the pro AMA does after every Pro Motocross or Supercross race in the 250 class and in the 450 class bikes must be torn down gone over and checked to make sure the every component in the motorcycle is what it's supposed to be if you actually took a Vance & Hines bike apart and had it checked with the other Suzuki bikes what's being ran you will see that they don't not have the same components is everybody else that would bring more Riders and more Racers to the NHRA Pro Stock class because it would give everybody a boost of confidence that everything is equal but Vance & Hines has the NHRA in their pocket so that won't happen as much as it needs to

Vance asking the other teams what do they need to do to fix the class and he asks if increasing the purse would do it and he knows without a doubt he would be giving his team and gage a pay increase. He might as well of just slapped the other teams in the face, spit on them and told em to git gud! NHRA wont step up to make any changes until its just Gage and Gadson that are signed up to show at the next event and when that event comes around they in fact only have gage and Gadson there. Vance will blaim everyone else while knowing that the NHRA is bending every other team over and sticking it to them without so much as a thankyou after each event but Vance doesnt care because it benefits THEIR PROGRAM AND THEIR POCKETS! Gages record is always going to have most fans think their should be an asterix by his record because its obvious thwt the NHRA is holding the pocket while at each event for Vance.

The writing is on the wall. I think the NHRA will do away with the PSM class all together due to a lack of competition, other manufacturers participating, fan interest and an overall lack of relevance.
