Developing Stronger Double Strokes
www.jonathancurtis.co.uk
In previous videos, I have explored the use of the fulcrum and fingers as they apply to double stroke rolls. In this video, I explore the often overlooked element of the wrist in performing this technique.
In order to produce strong, articulate double strokes, we need three elements to work together: the fulcrum, fingers, and wrists. The wrists must rotate for each hand's double stroke, and must continue to do so as the roll is sustained. Quite often, a weakness in the wrists' rotation can lead to an under-developed double stroke roll.
