Thanks for not only teaching how to practice doing it correctly, but also explaining the potential mistakes and showing how they sound.

Excellent explanation and the correct way to develop the double stroke roll. I'm playing 50 years and still work on this execution. And I always go back to what Jazz Drummer/Teacher Michael Carvin said, "the drummer that controls the bounce has the best technique."

Amazing lesson! For a long time I’ve considered double strokes as a mystery I couldn’t solve. There was no way I could get them fast AND relaxed. I struggled with wrist stroke doubles, the ”bounce-grip” technique, the squeeze. But now I feel that I finally GET it. Thank you!

Very good lesson! The double stroke is counterintuitive because the second note is developed through an upstroke and not a downstroke. That's why many people play sloppy doubles because their entire concept is incorrect. You explained it well.

Maria, it's simply amazing, how you explain the techniques of drum. It's so worth it listen to you. Please, keep motivated to share more drum "hacks" on KZbin. Your movies are structured, focussed, ingenious! Thx

Thank you so much. I'm definitely analytical and when it comes to instruction I really want to have my advice be useful and help people grow. I studied a lot on how to be an effective teacher and I try to dig into the hows and whys rather than simply demonstrating and telling people to 'just do it like this'.

This is a great lesson! But there is one problem, when I go back to review the lesson I realise I keep spending time searching for the training instructions which are kind of intermingled with the explanations (theory). I really would like all the lessons split into theory part and then practice part. So every lesson could be 3A (theory) and 3B ( how to practice), and maybe 3C (common errors)

Great content, you are a wonderful teacher. Your set up looks unique. Are you using a separate head on top of your snare bottom head?

Hello and thank you. I'm using a Sabian Quiet Tone pad. It has feet and can sit on top of a snare drum so it's quite but still gets some snare vibrations, or you can set it on any solid surface.

Great lesson….what kind of a snare(s) set-up is that?
@MariaWulfMusic

Hi, that is a Sabian Quiet Tone Pad on top of a bronze Pearl Freefloater. The pad is great because it uses a real drum head and catches some of the snare buzz.

You are a great drummer and teacher. I bet you can play 64th note triplets no problem. This video brings me to one question though. How is your metronome so loud?
@MariaWulfMusic
@MariaWulfMusic 2 ай бұрын
Hello, I was using a Yamaha Clickstation and it has a fairly loud click at the highest volume. I'm not sure if they're even available anymore.

Yeah, I agree. That was an error on my part. The recording speed and playback speeds were set on different fps. Syncing the audio isn't possible because of the speed variation so I had to go with a happy medium.
