Development boom hits Pickering as big towers move east in the GTA

Estimates of up to 75 new towers could be built in the city of Pickering if approved. Mark McAllister speaks to those who say it's been a long time coming and others who are concerned that it's too much.

Problem is these new units are sometimes unaffordable. Take a look at the proposal at Rougemount and Kingston which are rumored to start near 1MM. The cost per square footage is above detached properties in the same area.

I’m not anti build but I do think the developers should be on the hook to pay for schools. All these buildings and the only new school planned to be built in all of Durham is in north Oshawa

Alastair Taylor like all other Canadians need to make better voting decisions. Voting for your own benefits leads to problems like this. Another family fully subsidized will soon live in his home.
