The whole thing with Paxton is a way for Devi to just suppress the grief of her father's death. The therapist also said that she's just trying to find a boyfriend so that she doesn't have to face the pain. For me, it's symbolic that when she's kinda ready for closure ie spreading her father's ashes Ben is the one who is there for her and not like Paxton whose sister has to tell him to like her

So seeing her go for someone else who was making her whole world shake up he was just concerned and wanted to care for her. Yea but people might say Ben and her don't have chemistry but if you think about it they actually well enjoyed each other company as in rivalry. And Ben brought together her friendship. And he couldn't have saved Devi from the party cause at that time he hade a girlfriend . When Davi kissed Ben she felt comfortable enough to touch his chest while she didn't feel comfortable touching Paxton. Also people feel like Ben cheated but in ep 10 he didn't have a pic of his girlfriend anymore he only had one of himself before the kiss. He also seem angry at Paxton when he thought he had hurt Devi. The last part is that Ben has seen the worst and the best of Devi while Paxton has only seen the side Devi wants him to see which is how perfect she is. Also Devi thinks that Paxton is a God a perfect person while again she has seen the good and the bad of Ben. If this ain't chemistry I don't know what is.

I feel like ben supports her emotionally, helping her rekindle jer friendship and her relationship with her mom. He was always there for her and they pushed each other to succeed academically. Whereas paxton helped her physically in situations where emotions were lest involved ie: at the party. It wasnt much about making sure she was emotionally ok but moreover physically. At the end of the day ben wins for me, he can help her emotionally and keep her in check where paxton cant. Also hes a cutie and the way he smiles at her is so genuine #team ben

I think another reason they have good chemistry is Ben’s storyline goes deeper and has been developed. He has his own insecurities and traumas which I’m sure Paxton does too but we’ve never really seen them. So Ben and Devi connect on that level of emotional issues. They understand each other really well.
