sorry it's spelled ingots, not ignots. probably gonna need a longer spoon for scraping of the dross, so you don't cook those welding gloves. looks like a good furnace.

Been watching melts for a long time. Like the 1st pours for the entertainment 😂😅. It SHOULD get better. Need Hot Work gloves not welding gloves. SS big spoon with an extension welded on to scrape up the dross. Seen a few guys toss on a handful of 20 mule team Borax to clean up the dross or silica sands type materials to keep slag from forming as bad.

How's you bees?

I have one strong colony left. I think the yellow jackets took their toll on them. I had five nests on my 2 acres that I took out. I believe I was a little too late getting the last nest.

8:49 Isn't it easier to take that crusible out when you scoop the slag away? Then you won't be bothered by that heat

You could, but thicker gloves and a longer handled scoop is easier. The less oxygen and cold air you expose the metal to the better. That spoon is fine for aluminum but copper, brass, bronze, ect, a long piece of flat bar steel with a 90* bend in the end works. Or weld a longer handle onto your spoon.
