I absolutely adore the fact Agnus is going along with it. Other games show humanity in their villains through moments of grief or stress. DMC shows humanity in their villains by having moments where they can be just as goofy and childish as the main character.

Agnus' story is kind of sad. He was a laughingstock in his corporate when he was trying to prove his theory of demonic power infusion. The CEO (boss of DMC2) stole his experiment and used it on himself and made Agnus jobless. This is why he wants the entire world to see his theory right and he needs a theatrical demonstration. I love this scene wholeheartedly because of how it portrays Dante SO well. He's such a dork but at the same time such a lovable dork. He's so into the gag you can't help but smile and at the same time, his oozing confidence makes you still think he's so damn cool! He's so not afraid to make a fool out of himself it's COOL TO WATCH! Plus, the way he's TOYING with Agnus: he's so sure he got the situation under control he can't help but PLAY WITH THE ENEMY, like a cat playing with his food. Dante's so cool. DMC4 has the best Dante, IMO.

@leonardocouto3109 Жыл бұрын
@@pepekovallin Nero also has his moments of laid-back scorn, though. Your point does stand ground, still: what Dante can do without any effort, Nero has to actually prepare himself for and struggle a good bunch. Dante giving his all isn't Nero giving his all. However, there are moments in which Dante does take a more cautious position, his 1st fight with Urizen being the best example. I mean, have you ever seen Dante purposefully enter Devil Trigger in cutscenes? That was the very first time and shows he's giving all that he's got, since DT unleashes his power at full throttle.

Honestly, despite evil shit, Agnus was amazing, and theatre cutscene just skyrocketed his likeabilty points. His design has so much unique points, so damn charismatic. Like his stutter, exremely buff build for a nerd, skin color, the way his personality can shift from a nerd, to a coward, to someone concerned and obedient (with Sanctus), to a truly menacing villain (mostly from voice, but also remember how easily he stopped Nero's swing after Containment Room fight?). Lots of temperament! Big praise to the voice actor, TJ Storm, and I suppose devs took him as a body model too - look at the build of that man damn, Agnus is freaking packin'... Both ugly and hot, lol. Shame he worked for the bad guys, but you can't deny that he was a true genius, and his biggest interest was science. Like pretty much every supernatural thing (and some natural like swords) the Order of the Sword has is the work of Agnus, there's so much INCREDIBLE stuff he's done, and even Nero's sword is his work, how ironic. Or what about Ascension Ceremony for example? What about time-manipulation devices? Hell Gates? All these artificial demons? Freaking laser barriers? It's mindblowing honestly, Agnus is op in terms of scientific intelligence (well to be *completely honest* many of this is for the sake of a varied gameplay, it's simplier to not explain too much and just say "It's all Agnus", but still). Apparently even knight's uniform is designed by him, though no good source? I get why he liked to feel powerful, but doesn't seems like his main goal was to be a ruler of the world or whatever. His death is a shame, he was fun and interesting, but yeah, a villain. I mean dying after providing one of the very best cutcenes in the game, also in such a beautiful way (the note falling on his face, gasping and turning his head slightly, no gore involved as well) - a good deal for him. Credo's death on the other hand (beautiful but meaningless and undeserved)... Well, at least Agnus has a daughter who inherited a lot of his traits (not "evil coward" ones, thankfully). And his music theme is amazing. Annoying boss fight tho, at least it's a good looking and funny spectacle (I mean the way he fights, not the cutscene with Dante :D, it's amazing as well, one of the very best in the game). Summoner boss concept is interesting but yes, annoying.

This is why we all loved the old Dante. Can't Capcom just declare the 2015 DMC non-canon and give us what we actually want? I mean, the gameplay was good, but it still didn't feel like a DMC game.
@MrSentinel077 жыл бұрын
Well, DMC 2015 takes place in an alternate timeline so really they don't need to declare it non-canon. They just need to ignore it. :)

+Karma Loaf Ummm depending on the quality of it yes it would.
@Thejigholeman8 жыл бұрын
i know this comment is two years old but if DmC was a new ip, it would have fallen into obscurity as another poorly written game made to appeal to the edgy teen, what with their nirvana and their pogs. The shitstorm was because they took a series that was a mixture of heavy moments and light hearted demon slaying, and turned it into edgy teen: The vidya game a game with such colorful dialogue as "Fuck you. FUCK YOU! FUCK YOOOOOUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!" on it's own Dmc:Devil may cry would have been forgotten, a foolishly made ip that tried to be edgy and cool but came off as childish and painful to listen to. when you make a sequel to a game you are continuing based off a reputation, you are continuing a legacy.
@ahmeddemha61128 жыл бұрын
....DmC wasn't a reboot, and the legacy it was "supposed" to be continuing on wasn't exactly much to write home about and seems to be known more for memes, mood whiplash, and having a bad sequel in between the first and third game.
@lozm48357 жыл бұрын
If DmC wasn't a reboot, they could've done what they originally wanted to do, instead of having to jam Dante into their new character and making Donte. Then he could have been something better than Donte. Cliche and overly edgy perhaps, but better.
