Imagine how disheartening this fight is for Vergil. He steals his son's arm, kills thousands (possibly millions) of people by summoning the Qliphoth, obtaining what is supposed to be ultimate power by eating the apple created at the top of the tree, re-fusing into his normal self with seemingly greater power than ever before, all for the brother he did all of this to fight to just mock him, dispatching all of his attacks with ease, punishing every minor opening, while you can't even land a single blow.

Man, I love this plot. Vergil separated himself from his human form and spent a month on drinking human blood to overpower Dante. Meanwhile, Dante slept through this entire month, decided to stab himself on a hunch, absorbed the sword that Vergil decided to ignore and caught up to him. Just imagining a Dante vs Nero fight is challenging, cuz Nero's Devil Breakers and his now-reacquired Bringer grapples gives him a big edge, but Dante's styles and arsenal gives him an insane amount of versatility. I think a truly masterful Dante player would be LITERALLY untouchable.

Seeing this after my recent playthrough is absolutely wild. I have absolutely no idea how to do combos and those aerial jugles so I ended up spending 9 gold orbs on this fight on medium difficulty. That's way more than for anything else in this game. Most other bosses I managed to do without spending gold orbs with a few exceptions where I used only one but for this annoying fight it was 9. In comparison for the Nero vs Vergil fight that happens right after this one I only revived once with red orbs because as it happened 9 orbs were all I had when starting the fight with Dante. Honestly I'll probably play at the easiest difficulty once I decide to play again especially considering that my experience was very similar in most other DMC games. First game, I had to use the mode that unlocks after you die a few times. DMC 2 was surprisingly easy as Dante but as Lucia I got stuck at that underwater boss and never completed that game, DMC 3 was fine on medium difficulty untill that lady that has some kind of bats and that can teleport away from you. She made me rage quit so I didn't complete the supposedly best game in the series as well. Then for DMC 4 Nero was fine but I got stuck somewhere as Dante, for some reason I don't even remember where. The reboot was amazing and the first game that was fully playable on a keyboard and mouse with proper camera controls and everything. Without much trouble I completed both the main game and dlc on medium difficulty. And DMC 5 was also very good aside from Dante vs Vergil fight. I'll probably revisit the series at easiest difficulty for each game after I play other games that are similar genre. For now it's Rising Revengeance and both Nier games.

@@CognizantCheddar I wasn't talking about the arsenal size, although that is part of it. But let's give Nero as an example for buttons pressed at the same time. For top tier play, Nero is ALWAYS going to be using the following buttons on a constant basis (at least once per second during a combo) in one way or another. Sword, Gun, Exceed and Buster. These are all needed because there is no reason to not charge your gun, and Buster Knuckle can be used to add in extra damage at no cost during a regular melee attack and functions as a second exceed, sorta. Then he'll still frequently be using Lock-On, Breaker and Jump. When actually using a Break Art, then he'll want to be holding down the Breaker button while doing other moves. This is a total of 7 buttons seeing frequent use. Of these, only attack and jump are truly exclusive, and you could reasonably be tapping or holding up to 6 buttons at once (or in very quick succession, as with Exceed and Buster). In DMC 3, you were pressing only three buttons at once. Melee, holding gun charge, and lock-on. And the gun charge was only needed if you were in Gunslinger style. Every Style action was mutually exclusive with a melee action or a jump, so there was no need to press it while another action was being performed. Proper play with DMC 5 Nero requires double the amount of (near) simultaneous button presses that DMC 3 Dante did. On the one hand, increased skill ceilings are fun, but on the other hand, this is more than a little bit excessive. At the very least, auto gun-charge could have been added to avoid having to hold that down constantly.
