there's only one guy that can properly direct a dmc live action movie and its guillermo del toro,he can make action flicks with supernatural characters watch blade 2 and hellboy,he can thrive on dark fantasy settings watch pan's labyrinth,and yeah he can go japanese if he wants watch pacific rim,del toro should base this on dmc 3 though with the sequel based on the first dmc game

Lets pretend we get a good script and hire a actual kungfu director, who will play dante. Reuben Langdon, who??? A saught after stunt actor in hollywood who is a pretty good martial artist. Hes provided mocap for video game characters like Chris Redfield and ken masters...he also voiced ken. But all that aside, how does that qualify him?? Hes the voice actor and motion capture artist for Dante since DMC3 Dantes face is actually simular to his. Reuben is dante, so yes, a live action dante is possible.

AlphaOmegaSin, ,dude, you did indeed bring up many very good points about the current DMC predicament. One of which is that one of the reasons why many past video game adapted movies fail so horribly is because Hollywood have a difficult time "embracing" the storyline of the game and truly understanding the characters on a thorough level. CGI adaptations of the game (like resident evil degeneration) are spot on and true to the universe of that game realm.

At first I thought Garrett Hedlund could be a live action candidate for Dante, but I agree with you Alpha. Doing animation like Degeneration is the best path this can take to assure comfort with those familiar with the series. Throw in Vergil and Dante's original voice actors from the game, include story about their mother dying, and a prequel about Sparda's sealing of the demon world, and you have a kick ass animated movie series. If they consider your opinions, the movie can turn out awesome.

(continued) In resident evils case though, the first movie wasn't necessarily so bad, because the storyline of that movie could have easily fit in with the timeline of the game like before, during, or even possibly after the mansion incident that us die hard fans know and love. Where they went wrong was the second movie on after. They had a chance to make a good film that would satisfy the gaming fans and attract a bigger fanbase altogether, but instead continue on with Alice.

I hope they decide to go with the lore in Ninja Theory's reboot game if a movie is ever made. Chances are, they'll get more story material from that game. The last time the original DMC series was adapted into anything, it was that anime series. Animation quality aside, that anime's plot sucked.

Heh, I always wondered how Ninja Theory plans to make over 5 million sales on the first week's release of their "DmC." Hollywood has a habit injecting their originality on any title that they can get their hands on, so unless they actually get "inspired" by the actual game's stylized, crazy, high-speed action sequences (slow motion will only ruin it) then they're pretty much doomed from the start. Oh, and Advent Children was supposed to be an actual game, but was turned into a movie instead.

Not matter what ninja theory really does it can really only be mediocre at best. Unless they decide on like completly changing up the storyline where it just basically has the DMC atmosphere but not related to the ingame characters it might work. There are a few movies on the top of my head which I can't remember right know that did that and actually pulled it off quite nicely.

Look at Resident Evil, if you watch the special feature's in the interview with Paul Anderson, he says he did play the games when they first came out. Thats how he was able to make the movie good cause being a gamer he actually cared about the project

The Leon Kennedy actor Johan Urb should play Dante because the two charater look exactly alike and Urb is like one in in their group of triplets. Also Tom Cruise or Brad Pitt would suffice.

To be fair, Dante's own actor (Reuben Langdon) might be able to pull off Dante, but no one ever asks the voices themselves (according to Nolan North). So it'll probably be pretty bad if it really is live-action. NT needs to die or be bought by a console maker (so that Capcom has no choice but to stop working with them to keep the series multiplat)

I agree with a lot of what you say Alpha. Not only was this franchise almost damaged by DMC 2 (which isn't too bad but 1 and later versions were better), Ninja Theory and now Hollywood are going to ruin this great series and character. I fear what they are going to do to Sparda and Virgil who are some of my favorite characters, and with what has been done to many other games here's another one to add to the list of casualties. If anything I hope they reconsider and do a CG film instead.

I agree with AlphaOmegaSin 100%. There is no way a real life actor can live up to the Dante we all know and love. I was never a RE fan but I do love Street Fighter. Well I've yet to see a decent SF movie that wasn't animated. DMC needs to be done in a CG fashion just like FFVIIAC and then that would be perfect. I wouldn't mind seeing a ninja gaiden cg movie too.

Basically Paul Anderson or who the fuck ever made the decision that they're gonna make up their own story and characters that have absolutely nothing to do with the series or are related in any way then incorporate the actual characters in later movies but only as supporting characters while we focus on the bullshit we made up. There is literally nothing recognizable from the game in the RE movies. Silent Hill was the best game movie I seen and is what made me give the series another chance

Actually it's all Capcoms fault for the new look of Dante. Ninja theory actually made the character designs really close and similar to the original Dante but capcom wanted them to change the look as much as they could from the original. -_-

I fear that this is what may lie ahead for the devil may cry movie; unfortunately any changes that they make with this movie may be well justified in their eyes because DMC underwent a reboot, if they felt like it they can now take DMC in any fucking direction they want and no one (except the true hardcore fans, of course) would complain.
